Distressing NH holster...

I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on weathering the NH 'Raiders' holster to make it look a little more screen authentic - and loosen up the flap a little bit as it's pretty stiff.
Thanks.

Don't know about weathering, other than just letting it age a bit. But the stiffness can be remedied by applying Pecards all the way around the whole holster. I would especially apply the Pecards inside the flap. My Keppler Holster was the same way, and it really loosened up with a couple of applications.

I could tell you how I distressed my Keppler holster, but it may get me banned.

If Sergei will post some pics for me I will post some of my distressed NH holster with some explination.
All the best.

PS Sergei. I'll take some pics of those Joe Strain Lone Stars this week and send 'em to you.
I love 'em!

You bet Mr. Canasta. Just send them on them on over, I will be glad to post them for you. And I'm also interested on your comments on those Lone Stars.

Not to hijack this thread...but was it you Canasta that did that excellent job distressing the web belt?
If so...please post those pics again as well with a mini-tutorial?
And if not...anyone know who that was?
The buckle looked waaay cool.

I don't suppose it has anything to do with lighter fluid, does it, Rab?

Since starting to peruse this site, I understand there are numerous varieties of Pecards. Just so I don't screw up insufferably, which Pecards are y'all referring to here? The same stuff I use on the whip, the motorcycle variety, the gel...??
Cheers.

Another trick is to run it under hot water until it is soft. Then massage it around a bit, bending the flap up and down, and then let it dry. If you have a fake gun to put in it while it dries, all the better, or you can stuff newspaper or other stuff in there so it holds some of it's shape. Be careful of the strap and knob closure, you don't want to break that in too much or it won't stay closed for you.
Do this a couple of times, and it will start to break in. If you don't like the the shiny new look, then take some good old fashioned dirt and massage it in. It will help wear that shiny finish off, and add a little discoloration.
Leather is some amazingly durable material, and I've seen boots and holsters go through this process for real during field training and they just come back for more. Unless you want something to remain new looking, don't be afraid to get out there and abuse it.
