No camera at the moment but I will upload pictures when I get the chance...

far as i can determine fits perfectly- definitely one of the nicer things I've ever had draped over my shoulders- and the lamb is surprisingly soft!

The one thing that really urks me is that the zipper doesn't extend to the true end of the jacket- call me SA nazi. I know it probably makes more sense, structure-wise, but they did it once they should be able to do it again!
Who knows, though, maybe one of the ones in the film was more like that and just wasn't visible on screen>.> shame there doesnt seem to be a way to tailor it without destroying it...

that aside, thank you Peter, Gemma, and the fine folks at Wested- I love everything else about it. Odd feeling, wearing a jacket made for your form for the first time..

Happy Holidays

p.s. has anyone ever managed to get Peter to bring the zipper all the way to the finish? I've noticed all the posted pics have it stop short, too

If you read my post "all the Raider's jacket details in one place" you will find out that there was at least one jacket used in the film with the zipper stopping short.

But, the zipper that way is prety much how it has to be to ensure the strength of the jacket. I did not quite understand what Peter was saying when we spoke on the phone about that, and I finally ended up with the 'short" zipper option after all.

To have the zipper go all the way, it has to be sewn on OVER everything else, giving a very unfinished look to the jacket interior. My carhart jacket has this attachment method, and until I really studied it, I did not understand.

It MAY be able to be donewith some creative folding of the materials; however if it is overly complicated, it adds cost.

So, be happy with it as-is; it will last longer! When/if it does fail, and you need a new zipper, you can address the attachment then with your tailor... (That's my plan anyway).

Enjoy it, and Merry Christmas!

yeah the way it's sewn it'd be pretty difficult to get it down another 1.5", upon second examination.

Wore it to work today, already got my first 'nice jacket', though of course only I know it's an Indy jacket, in that crowd:lol:

I'm NOT, however, going to hang it up with the rest of the jackets! This is about 7 times the cost of any coat I've bought before so I'm a lil' protective atm hehe

Anyone know a way to get the straps going in the other direction, btw? :P

have fun tomorrow gents, I'll update when I get a decent picture of this thing :)

Well, you don't necessarily want the zipper pull to hang below the bottom of the jacket for one thing.

That is a valid point- particularly since the jacket is typically worn open.

The pull should be even with the bottom of the jackt, as even on the 'long' zipper versions seen in the movie, the pull is never seen poking out from under the storm flap...

From a practical standpoint, you don't want it scratching or banging into anything either.

My 2005 Authentic Brown Lambskin Raiders has a right side YKK #8 brass zipper as low as possible without the zipper pull showing. Don't have any good pics but these will have to do for the moment, both are a few years old.

VP,
The authentic brown looks a little dark; is that the way it came or did you add Pecard's to make it like that? Looks nice.

No Pecards on this baby, just a few applications of Letap. The cans were bought after these pics though.

/edit: Here's a pic taken last summer (doesn't show the zipper pull): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/I ... paissa.jpg

I have an Authentic Brown lambskin Raiders that does have the zipper extended all the way :D I keep the jacket bunched up on the bottom of my closet. You're right about not hanging it up, because the leather could get stretched with the weight of the jacket.
I guess you want the straps to point forward, so you just have to double back the straps through the same hole they came in. You don't have to be afraid of it becoming undone, because it gets really tight. Hope this makes sense. ;)

I never heard that about not hanging it up. Is that only for lambskin or any leather?
