I know there are several vendors here who sell the brown web belts. But, does anyone know where you can find them that are heavy duty or made to military spec's rather than the light weight costume type? Thanks.

I get mine for Indy/WWII reenacting/regular wear from my friendly neighborhood surplus store.

I'm not sure there is a dark brown 'military' web belt, unless you dye a khaki one

That's what I'm thinking because I have searched a lot different sites and can't find anything except the ones we can get from the vendors here. Perhaps some of our military historians could shed some light on this.

As far as true military belts go I've seen khaki, black, dark blue, and white.
In more recent years the Canadian Forces has used dark green.
I've never seen a dark brown military one, but maybe one is used by someone somewhere.

After making due with Kakhi for years, I stopped by the PX the other day. As a civilian I can't shop at the PX proper, but in the same building there was store that sold current issue military gear. Low and behold what did I find but a brown web belt. I was much more excited than I had any right to be. They are out there If you can find them.

I’ve seen brown web belts at Sears before. Or at workmen's clothing shops.

I was in a surplus store last year that had a HUGE selection of belts, but brown was not among them. They had three different camos, white, blue, od green, khaki, and (brace yourself) pink. But no brown.

I got my brown web belt at an Army Surplus Store, but I think civilians or cops wear them. They had huge rolls of "belt fabric", cut them to length, put the buckle and tip on, and voila, a belt!

Yep, got the brass tip and buckle. But, I just watched "White Christmas" with the family and it looked like they wear the brown web belt with... (wait for it) the pinks!! Any costume history buff know? Seems possible.

That's certainly a possibility of it being a WW2 Officer's belt color. You'd think it would be more commonly found at re-enactor sites though?

I have a few of Todds ones. Excellent quality.

I guess all of the buckles are pretty much the same, from one seller to the next. I have my uncles WW II web belt and the buckle is much more substantial than what is out there now.

There are the US made solid brass versions, and the Taiwan brass plated aluminum versions. Aside from being the more period accurate, the solid brass buckles are much more durable than the brass plated type found in many surplus stores and online.
