My Wonderful AB

Got it about a month ago, but haven't been able to really take any good pics until now. The other ones that exist are embarassing college party pictures. Not exactly Henry Jones Jr's style.

I'll post some gear shots once I get back to my apartment from vacation. I have a lovely N.H. shirt and a Magnoli bag to go along with it. The other stuff...that's a work in progress! Let me know what you guys and gals think of the hat.

I'll tell you though, I wear it ALL the time. For every negative comment I've received on it, I've had 20 more great ones. Everytime I wear it out, which is almost daily now that its gotten a bit colder, I get at least one compliment. I've even been stopped by two Chicago detectives asking me where they could get such a stylish hat.

This hat goes so well with dressier clothes. I'll tell you fellas, wear this hat with a suit and tie and you'll just look great (as I'm sure you all know). I love wearing this around, and love the fact that I get so many comments and questions about it. It truly is a spectacular hat. Steve is a master!

Beautiful hat!! Chop down that brim a bit and it'll be PERFECT! You're one of us with a thin face,,a narrow brim looks much better and to scale.

Actually, I disagree. In most cases yes, but the way in which the brim is slightly large for his face has a nice effect. JMO. -M

Are taller crowns supposed to go better with longer or rounder faces? I remember reading posts on COW with differing opinions on the subject..

Just keep wearing it on a regular basis, then post some photos this coming Spring after it's gone through a Chicago winter. THAT'S when you can judge a hat, as by then it will have taken on the 'character' of it's owner.
;-)
HIGH regard! Michaelson

One bad thing, it really ***** when you're walking around by the lake with your AB on and that famous Chicago wind catches you. One hand is always securely on the hat to make sure it doesn't fly off. It would be bad for nearby people to see a young man cry at the expense of losing his hat. =o

It's been snowed on before though and I've let it naturally dry and it looks great...no taper whatsoever.

No disrespect man but it looks a bit large... maybe Fedora can offer some trimming suggestions?

I also think that it looks a little bit large in terms of facial shape and size IF you are going for as screen accurate an Indy look as you can get. BUT having said that I also think it looks great as is and the only thing that truly matters is that you love it! Like any good cover of someone else's song you have to take it and make it your own - which you have! As others have said, it'll look even better after a few months of wearing. Enjoy!

Yeah, I can see how it is a bit big on me. But I do really like the way it looks.

If I did want a more SA look, what would I need to trim exactly? Just the brim? Or does the hat need to be reblocked to be smaller?

Honesty, I think the hat looks about two sizes to big on you. It doesn't need a bim trim, but a resizing. That is just my opinion. That being said, it is beautiful and Steve's work never ceases to amaze me.

I concur with the Doc (above). Don't trim the hat. It doesn't need it. Steve knows the correct proportions. I have a similar facial structure to yourself and my AB looks about as right as Ford's did on him. The answer is to downsize. A snugger hat (on you) would make all the difference IMO.

Ahh yes, brings back memories of the time I had to chase my PB Indy down Michigan Av. Fortunately I was able catch up to it as it bounded merrily along the sidewalk.

That's a beauty of a hat. Just wear it well, time and nature will take it's course. Every hat is going to look different over time. They each develope their own 'personality.' I can look at nice hats all day and never get tired of it.

Heck, I've chased a hat through a busy parking lot to retrieve a hat! I've gotten to the point where my reflexes tell me if and when I should hold onto the brim. Enjoy your hat!
