So about the 888 thing....why the limited run?...he's obviously got a seller.

As with the limited number for the CS jacket, that's the number he was given permission to make. At least that's what I was led to believe

I have a feeling he might not even sell out of 888s, but that's just me. Anyways, there's two other movies if he does

Always be wary of limited runs. It does not always mean that there will be a limited amount of jackets.

I have seen this used as a marketing gimmick to make buyers think that the jackets are offered in a lower quantity and therefore a rare prize.

Sometimes the details differ slightly or the manufacturing techniques may be unique compared to those used for mass manufacturing. (Maybe the inside inscription will change or no longer be offered. Maybe the hardware will change.) It does not have to be noticable either.

Anyone who knows the Belstaff Hero jacket with the limited edition tag on the inside knows that it was produced for many seasons. (2005 to mid 2008). There are also Hero jackets that look identical, except that they are missing the Limited Edition Tag. It may very well be that the only thing that makes that jacket a "limited edition" is the tag stating such and not the quantity of jackets produced.

I am not stating any of this is the case with TN though. Has anyone even asked Tony what happens when they are 889 in line? If he is willing to produce that 889th jacket, then the "888" holds little value. Even the fact that he is willing to make the jackets out of sequence cheapens the "limited edition-ness." This board recently had a thread that told about the Beatles White Album selling at obscene prices because it was numbered relatively close to albums that the actual Beatles owned. If the numbering was just random based on the buyer whims, then that means only as much as someone is willing to pay for it, but the sequential numbering of a limited edition will not apply.

Agreed, I think Tony would make you anything you want AFTER all the limited originals are gone. It probably just wouldn't have the XXX of 888 inscription on the liner.

He wouldn't if he has an agreement not to sell more than that.

777 and 888 are a lot of jackets though, it will be a long time before he reaches these numbers. They are not massed produced or mass priced.

So by long time we mean......3 years?...that would be ideal.
