Ok, so this is a continuation from my previous thread, but I am still having a hard time choosing which hide and color to pick for my TOD wested to be 100% SA i.e. how it looks on screen

This will close at 1:30 AM Central Time

I ordered mine in Dark-brown lamb....nothing to do with being SA or not, I like my jackets darker.

As I said in the other thread, when I asked Wested which was a better match with the NH ToD, Authentic Brown or Dark brown Lamb, I was told 'authentic brown lambskin'

If you want a "match", based on that I'd go with the authentic brown. If you want toughness go with the goat.

Dark Brown for me. Of all my jackets, that is the one that seems most like it.

SA would probably be dark lamb but real world it looks like authentic lamb. When I ordered mine, I went with authentic because I have never had a Wested that color.

I like my jackets light, so I would pick authentic, no matter if it's screen accurate or not.

I'd go Washed Goat.
The color of that hide really looks well for a ToD jacket. Granted it'll distress easily, but the true dark brown undertone of the hide never goes away.

Also... you'd be getting the best of both worlds. The rich color of a dark brown lambskin and the toughness of goat hide. What's not to like about something like that !?!?!?!

knibs?

another thread about this, its hard deciding right?

I would get the jacket in new finsh goat,I like durabitlity for my jacket.I plan on having it without a worrie when going outside.

the goat can be really screen accurate.take a look at this TofD wested for example by my good friend Swindiana.this is why I want goatskin for my temple jacket.it looks the part and its tough as nails

Dang... :o

That looks pretty #### good !!!
And I can only assume that those pictures don't even come close to showing you all the beautiful distressing tones on that jacket.

Goats' the way to go on this one , man

Goat smoat! :) That's distressed with acetone! There's some of us who would never dream of attacking our jackets with chemicals!
Lambskin, like the original, is the way to go! :)

I think any of those colours will work.

On screen it seemed to look darker, so I'd be tempted to go with the dark lamb or goat. BUT you'd have to really distress it to get the highlights.

But really, you can't go wrong with any of them.

There seems to be a debate over SA hide vs. SA look. Which hide looks the closest right out of the package? Washed goat. Which hide was SA? Lamb. Some say it was a Cooper. Based on a close-up photo of the screen used hide that KT posted, it is lamb with lots of distressing, possibly washed with chemical such as acetone and/or water, etc. Strones posted some photos of his washed lamb, yet it has greenish-gray undertones.

It seems to come down to personal preference of the "look" vs hide, and if you choose the SA hide, are you willing by trial and possibly error, to distress the jacket with chemical/distressing methods of your own choice?

I just received an authentic brown Raiders, and he told me it was the best quality of the lamb hides.

This might help a little, it's taken indoors with flash.

...looks authentic brown, KT? Its interesting because in the movie, sometimes it almost looks black in certain scenes, maybe the shadowing effect?

yeah thats the lighting..

just like when taking pictures with flash.

on camera the jacket sometimes looks black too.

In does, but maybe that's due to the way they graded the film. That's why I suggested that the darker brown might suit some people's perceptions better.

Never the less, this is what it looked like in bright sunshine with a snappy snap camera. They tend to have slightly over vibrant colours.

Just to throw a spanner in the works I have another shot that shows it very, very dark.

So, you need to make your own choice!

whos the secret kept from now? us wings?

come on man, people will be getting the jackets in about a week..or does the jacket come from wested with that grey square block on the jacket?

That's for 'G's' benefit! :) (only kidding G)

I thought it might be nice for the first person to get one to be able to show.

We know all these jackets to the nth degree from screen caps etc... it's kinda fun to find out something new for yourself.

Scouts honor that the prototypes at US Wings, KT. Although I did consider sending a small force of ninja, mutant monkees to "persuade" you to reveal the secret of the buckle!

I'm sticking with my choice of goat (for right now ;-) ) although I waffle between this and the washed goat (dark lamb is right there as well but that will make me too many lambskin jackets). The washed goat is fantastic but I'm wanting to pare down to a few jackets to distress naturally and I want them to last. The washed goat is goat, but I wonder what it will look like in a few years.

Not only does that picture make it look darker, it makes it look like it has a blueish hue

My guess is that that blueish hue is simply the effect of the flash being used realy close to the leather, not a property of the leather at all.

Now you can get your jacket in a variety of colors and styles! Choose from purple, blue, grey, russet, red, and new green!

I went with washed goat since, A) it's tougher and B) matched closest to what i've seen of the hero jacket on the ToD DVD.
