I've got my M1917 Indy gun almost complete. I need a favor from the owner of the Indy "Stembridge" gun. There used to be a pic on the IndyGear site which showed the left grip panel of the 2nd model Hand Ejector. I need to replicate the missing piece of the left grip panel. If the owner could post the pic, or send it to my email address, at fritzking@cablemo.net. I'll include some pics of my revolver.

Just a thought if you do try to "chip" your new grips to match the stembridge revolver.
What will probably happen is that the chip will follow the grain of the wood on your new grips and not be the same as the stembridge.May be better to cut/dremmel the chip to match the screen used one.

Nice! Now you just gotta get those replacement grips on and your Stembridge replica will be complete. Did you remove the bluing on the end of the barrel yourself?

Yes I did. My gunsmith reblued the barrel after cutting, recrowning and reattaching the front sight blade, but it just wasn't right. So if you want to do it yourself, here's how:

White vinegar removes blueing. Take a small cup (the size of a Nyquil medicine cup) and fill it about 3/4 of the way with white vinegar. Wrap the barrel just behind the sight with 3-4 wraps of black electrical tape, so that the tape is above the level of vinegar in the cup. Set the barrel in the cup and stand the revolver up against something sturdy (I used my workbench). Let it sit for about an hour. Remove it from the cup and neutralize the vinegar with some water. Then remove the tape and clean the barrel as you would after firing. If you want a high polish, you can use some fine steel wool and oil to clean it up; just be careful of the edges of the blueing. Now that section of the barrel is "in the white," so be sure to wipe it down with an oily rag on occasion.
