Had an epiphany while running laundry this evening.

Everyone can sort laundry into separate loads for lights, darks, and whites.

You know you're a Gearhead when you have enough for a "khaki" load, too.

Or you have enough Indy shirts and/or pants for a seperate load!

Yep, my laundry is whites, darks, reds & pinks (two little girls), and earth-tones.

I believe that my two closest Indy pants (Wested and Platon) are wool as is the LL Bean pair, so I would not put them in the washing machine. Those go to the dry cleaner. Now the cotton Oak Creek pair is just fine for a cold water wash.

I've got enough shirts to make a small load when I go through them all: 2 Westeds, 2 Adventurebilt, 2 Todds, and 2 What Price Glory. Add to that the close enoughs or from the Rick O'Connell set and there's about 2 more. Hey, I think I have enough shirts for a week-long Summit! Now I just have to make it to one.

Wow, you guys actually WASH your indy gear? Part of my weathering regimen is to never wash it...EVER. The smell gets much more authentic over time.

Since we see Indy packing for his adventures, I must assume that he unpacks when he returns home. I can't see Indy leaving piles of unwashed, dirty, sweaty shirts and pants, if they survived the journey, just laying around, or worse yet, hung in his closet with his clean university professor shirts and suits. I don't think Indy's gear is dirty before he starts out, unless it is stained or embedded, or showing the wear of time like his boots and leather jacket.

Funny. I remember the movie smelling like popcorn and soda.

Yeah...popcorn and soda is pretty much what I distress my gear with too.

Most likely when Indy returns from an adventure he washes his clothes like a bachelor: no separating the colors...

or one of his doe-eyed female students is already there waiting for an assignment!

I remember when I was about 11 and was running around in the woods dressed like Indy in the middle of an Eastern North Carolina Summer. My mom met me at the door and promptly instructed me to take off those clothes because they were filthy. Tears welled in my eyes as I exclaimed,"Indiana Jones never washes his clothes!"

I mostly wear earthtones so I'm pretty much always doing that sort of load.. then a jeans/dark socks load.. and whites.

for what it is worth, if you want to make your old shirts brand new again, take them to a professional & have them cleaned. i took my two magnoli shirts to a little asian lady who runs a dry cleaning business here in town, & it was like i was wearing brand new clothes!!!

What Rick O'Connell shirts do you have?

Sorry for the delayed response. I have two different shades for Rick..One is a lighter Safari shirt from Cabella's and the the darker one is from LL Bean. Both have epaulets and pleated dual front pockets, but no full length pleat like Indy's shirts. The Cabella's could be a budget Indy shirt if I didn't already have my Indy shirts.

My camera phone is the only digital one I have and it most likely won't do the slight variations in color too well.
