Just got my "Henry" w/pics

Ok, guys and dolls. I just got back from the movies and found a box waiting for me, It was my AB "Henry." The first thing I did was put it on and the fit was right on. I gave it a turn to put in the Raiders swoop. I then creased the hat. Total time ten minutes. It will need some attention to the crease for the next few days but I have no doubt that it will hold without water or steam.

The felt,

The 80% rabbit makes it nice and floppy and the color is perfect for the Raiders hat. The 20% beaver gives just a tad more body than a rabbit felt hat. The 20% makes for a better pounce job/finish.

Ribbon,

It's the AB ribbon and marc must have drove the factory crazy because they did a good job with getting a Raiders look.

sweatband,
I never seen anything like it. I'm wearing the hat know and cant tell it has a sweatband in it. The sweatband has a bit of give and I really think this thing will form to ones head like no other.

Oval all,

I'm very pleased with the "Henry". It's is by far better than any factory/machine made hat and better than some handmade ones.

again Marc and Steve, you SOG's have done it again. bravo.

... and finally what you been waiting for, the pics.

 Congrats! It looks great! Nice job with the crease, though you've had some practice with that.
Wear it in good health.

I just got my Henry tuesday, and I couldn't agree more! It's very nice, and it's very light on your head... i love it, and I too think it's very good for a factory-produced hat!

I knew the Henry could crease out better than I have seen. It's not that hard to bash this hat. Just have to follow a couple of steps. Place it on your head and turn it until that Raiders swoop shows up. Leave it there and start a lose center crease. Than start looking at the side view and get it where the front is slightly higher than the back. 4 3/4 in the front and 4 1/2 in the back is my rule of thumb. Than I just grab it from the front pinch like you should never grab a fedora. and then just work the side till it looks the way it should. Ten minutes tops. No water , no steam. Doesn't need it. I do grab my hats after creasing them by the front crease until the bah sets in. After that I stop grabbing it that way.

thats the best raiders crease job i've seen on he henry. i was starting to think it couldn't be done with that block. very nice.

what is the waiting time for one right now? i guess i can justify getting one even though i can make a hat.....oak did it.....(do you think that will fly with 'the boss'???)

Alright Oak! That is one fine looking Henry! :) I knew it could be done justice with a raiders bash. And might I say, a fine one it is, Well Done!

I'm glad you finally got a chance to feel that sweatband on you head. It truly is like none other.

Regards,
Brian

oak, with the lack of flanging.....would you say this is more of an SOC hat or flying wing hat?

It has more of a flange curl than seen in these pics. If you pop down the back then you get more of a SOC. I'll try and post some pics of me wearing it to show what I mean.

There always a good reason to buy another hat.

Can't wait to see more pictures. Thanks for sharing! I'd love to see a Raven Bar bash on one of these.

Here is my Henry. I've gone for a more Venice Pier bash, but I've only bashed it lightly - its my first time. When I did the bash, it was almost like the felt said "I wan't to look like this", and who dares to work against felt... I'm hoping that continued use will make the bashing a bit more distinct, but overall I'm quite happy with it.

Enjoy:

Oak your pics have made my mind up. You have given that lid a great Raiders bash, I was slightly apprehensive about getting one as all pics so far seemed to me to look far too like the KOTCS look. Looks great enjoy! :)

Cheers

John thanks for posting those pics! I always wanted to see one of these that was creased by someone who is a good hand at creasing. A few of the ones I have seen just looked horrible to me. I was having doubts as to how these hats actually could look. Now, I trust Marc, but sometimes you don't get what you want from a factory. I must say, I have just breathed a huge sigh of relief. This factory is certainly capable of producing great hats, they just don't have much call for them these days. Everyone wants the 30 dollar wholesale model so they can retail them low, or highly if you consider SAB's HJs. This very old factory still has the capability to making really good factory hats. Kudos to my friend Marc for choosing well. Fedora

JE, you did a really good job on the crease. I think you hit the mark very well. You have just the right amount of height front and back at the center crease.

the avaitor, I think the block shape is just right for a Raiders hat.

Steve,

I thought the same thing but saw most of the crease jobs look to have the center crease either to high or to low in the front. After seeing squidkidds Henry I had a even stronger feeling that it would make a great looking Raiders hat.

I really think ( I don't measure my hats when I crease them until after the bash is done) but they end up around the same every time for me. They end up at front at 4 3/4 and the back at 4 1/2. This is a good rule of thumb for those who are new to creasing a hat.

I haven't really taken it of since I got it tuesday. However, I think it's easier to show the bashing when they are not ones head. If it's on somebody's head, that is a variable which might skew the way you see the creases - but yes, I wear it ALOT!

Thanks Bendingoak, appriciate it... :)

I don't ever remember seeing any of your pics or any with you wearing them POT.

When my wife is back in town I'll get her to take a couple of shots with me wearing it.
