I forgot how they are made so anyone who owns a jacket please answer this question.

Are they made like the ones shown below, i.e. like the below (pls notice the back side line in the middle where leather is folded)

Image

i.e. same like LC Jacket

or are they like Wested's where leather is folded at seams? (if you know what I mean.)

the hardware appears to be nickel rec. sliders.. not buckles like on todds

thats right.there were several jackets.

one with 2 piece rec sliders.

one with triglide like todds.

one with nickel triglide (with roller bar I think)

and even one with Drings.(also I think...)

Platon, my Todd's standard straps appears to be two piece construction, meaning that two pieces of leather were sewn together around the edges to create the strap. Hope that helps.

But the straps are facing toward the back on all of the variations?

on screen yes..but on the orignals no..(well maby...the bantu jacket.I believe they are with rec sliders with straps facing forward)

look at Tony Nowaks Indy 1.two rec piece with the straps facing forward.

Tony confirms that the hero jacket has 2 piece rec sliders and the Xbox ;-)

Hey r.deckard,
Are we talking about the same thing?
Notice the line in the middle of the strap where the two ends of the leather meet. Your Todd's has that?

Yes, that is correct.

i believe (and you don't have to) that the hardware went through many iterations before something was finalized. i've heard that the original leather concessionaries jackets came with d-rings that could not hold the lambskin.....then came the buckle WITH prongs as tony has confirmed that the strap had penetrations on them.......then it finally ended up with the sliders. i don't know for sure so take it for what itst worth.

KT and i believe you are looking at a pronged buckle in that first pic.....2 prongs....same as TOD.

Ya I would say it is a pronged buckle as well. Just my opinion..

It might be that the older versions had this two-piece-strap, but mine has not. I guess that detail was changed in the meantime. :-k
