Just wanted to show everyone Gus's
new budget whip! I received this whip last week and as a first time whip user let me say it took little to no effort to crack this whip!
In less then a week I can do the overhand the cattlemans and the flick(working on form now) Gus was super to talk with during the whole process and has got a customer for life!

MHO, a 10' from Gus, maybe even an 8'. Todd may have some adventurer boots that may fit you by then.

Hi thanks for all the great comments about the whip. I have done more to these whips since my original Budget design. I have made them easier to crack. Even though it is a Budget whip, I still wanted to make something that is just not a costume piece but a working whip.
My price stands the same at $110 for the 8ft 8 plait. I still have a few hide left over.

Billsid29 I like the pictures you took.
The one in your hand gives a good look at the size of the whip.
For those who are waiting on these whips I promise I am making them. I thank you for all your patience.

Got my Budget whip yesterday, although we here in Hawaii were experiencing a rainy and really windy weekend. I will be giving my new whip a test run tomorrow, and so far I like what I have. Here's some pics I'd like to share (in case some of you catch this on one of the pics, there is a whip holster on it that I purchased from Ben Scott a while back).

This is great news! At that price, we have a true successor to the IAOB. Does it come in other colors?

Chewbacca Jones thanks, at this time I only have it in this color.
For now.....

Gus,
Please give me a heads up if you change the color of the budget whip if you go to a ROTLA lighter color I'm all over it!
By the way can't put the whip down, talk about addictive! My boys are loving it as well, my 11 yr old can do the Snake Killer and my 8 yr old can do the Flick. Talk about fun for the whole family!!

Billsid29 that is great news that your family is involved in whip cracking now. Really glad to hear that.
For the RotLA in budget might be a while before I can do it in that color.
I did post up a few Videos on my youtube.

Yep, Gus is a great guy to deal with!
By the way, was able to do overhead cracks first time after watching a video. Very fun to play with the whip and much easier to get the hang of than I thought it would be.

This looks like an amazing whip, I've actually considered picking one up. Quick question for those familiar with leather though: could you lighten this whip's color yourself at home with some kind of cream/dressing or fading?

I doubt that you could lighten it. It is oil tan, and will likely stay that way.
Ron
P.S. His superior whips aren't that much of a strain on the budget...spring for the 12 plait...get the color you want, the plait count, and a better whip all 'round. Gus is a great guy, and if you give him a call I am sure he will explain everything.

I have to mirror RJ's suggestion. I have an eight foot, twelve plait Caicedo and the color is beautiful. After a couple months of regular use, it has a darkened up to a beauitful tone. The whip also handles well and is, in my opinion, pretty SA. I also got it before he started adding a third belly, so it looks pretty accurate for the Raiders whip. His standard whips are not much more than his budget one so if you want a lighter colored whip, I would go that route.

Howdy,
I just received one of Gus' Saddle Tan 8'-8 plait Indy whips. Man, the is a beautiful piece of equipment, and cracks great right out of the box. And let me tell you, Gus' customer service is terrific. We has a VERY MINOR problem with my order; Gus went above-and-beyond the call of duty to make things right. He has another customer for life!
