Hi everyone - geez, I go away from the forum for a little while and now all of a sudden everyone is throwing around new terminology and I'm all confused.
Is this authentic goat everyone's talking about now Peter's standard goatskin or would I have to specify that I want the authentic when ordering? (In other words, do Westeds now come in two different types of goat?) Also, how authentic is the authentic goat? I've been vaciliating on ordering a goatskin jacket because many people say they look sort of grayish...

Is there really an "authentic" goatskin? Is this a term that Peter uses or has it been developed here to define a particular style of jacket. I would think "authentic (made or done the same way as an original) would be the wrong word since lamb was the original. Just curious since I should be receiveing a new lambskin today and may be placing the new order at the end of summer. I already have a goat, but what is the difference. If is is simply color, I will stick with the one I have...

Rick, I do believe the term "authentic" when referred to the goat is indeed in regards to the color. I believe the term came up after he found an original production jacket and came up with the authentic lamb, and the authentic goat.
Jacket guys, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

That is correct, Mike. He found a jacket that had not been completed for the movie, then had the leather color and weight matched by an Italian firm to an exact match, so the term 'authentic' was applied to describe the leather. He then had a goatskin matched as well by the same firm. Regards. Michaelson
