Federation IV spot on

Years ago I lost a very comfortable and expensive rabbit fur fedora to a thief. I have been happy enough, so I thought, to use wool felt since as my budget didn't justify replacing it.
I mentioned this to my soulmate months ago and today as a birthday surprise a Federation IV arrived in the post for me! (bless her, it wasn't cheap).
Now I don't consider myself a stitch Nazi gearhead so I never thought I could get so enthusiastic about a mere hat.
However, it is a thing of beauty. I had simply forgotten how light and breathable rabbit fur is. And it shimmers. (Excuse me - I'm having a religious moment!)
It is THE Indy hat for me because it is 30s proportioned and tough.
I found myself grabbing stills from Raiders before I put in the only bash I could think would do the hat justice, yes, the opening scenes bash. Strictly speaking I didn't really even need to steam fix the shape.
Well now I truly feel I am a proper Indy fan again.
I have already decided to trust the Akubra reputation and not be precious with the hat, it will go everywhere with me.

despite still not being a total gearhead (honest) I feel duty bound to post a picture of said hat soon.

I'll pass that on - yes she is. Never bats an eye at my whackiness.

Isnt it just great when our lady friends allow us to be this nerdy. Maybe they secretly like the idea of us all looking very smart and possibly looking like Indy.

Yup. I wonder if there's a psychologists' term for people who love their hats, so I can tell people my rare condition.
Am I a soliophiliac?

Not for the time being. I will probably post some more when I have some of it in use, I'm trying hard not to become such a gearhead
that I post 'orthographic projections' of it!
T'was tempting

Hmmmm... I think that's only only if you mistake your soul-mate for a hat! Or vice versa. ;-) Nice titfer by the way...

No that would be 'erotisoliophiliac', which falls W-E-E-E-LL outside the remit of this site!

it sounds like you may have a size too small for your head, though all 30s style hats are quite tall.
My hat's band sits snugglynot quite touching the tops of my ears

Sorry I wasnt clear enough. It fits fine. I was just saying that it seems taller than I thought it would. Just because Im new to hats I think.
I cant stop putting it on. I love it. I wonder an original HJ would be like to own......

I get the impression from threads here that the HJ isn't what it used to be, not worth the money for the flimsy hat one gets. But that's hearsay.
It might be worth doing a topic search and then PMing any owners you find.

Great looking hat, Wood!
Now I only wish that I will be as happy with my Fed once it arrives.
That is,
if it ever arrives....

Mine arrived within a week of ordering it from 'under there' - I live in the UK. They seem very helpful and service orientated at Hats Direct so I'm guessing it must be the postal system to blame.

Or customs
they are having a ball with my overseas orders lately

I'm positive it's not due to Hatsdirect.
I have been in constant contact with Jenny and she is very helpfull.
Geert, are you waiting for one as well? Jenny said that somebody else in the Netherlands was waiting since october 3rd...

No I'm not waiting on a Fed IV, so that isn't me. I was just referring to the fact that customs has been a pain for me the last month, keeping stuff in limbo up to two weeks, that's all. It almost seems like they are suddenly trying realy hard to earn their christmass bonusses.
So that could verry well be the problem with your hat Joosse.

I'm guessing that is probably it.
Pretty annoying though. I actually needed the hat for something tomorrow. Hats direct sent it on time, and it would have been here on time, if not for customs holding the darn thing up.
Those nasty people are not very friendly (Thats me keeping it nice, because it is a family place here).
