I think I read that it's not shipping till sometime in Dec.

Just a bump on this thread. Any thoughts on this? Most likely a wall hanger, but one never knows.

Dan, I haven’t seen one yet...

I had read somewhere though that on of our members receive theirs ( I cant find the post now though). They sounded disappointed, claiming looked worse then the one advertised. I believe they said the leather was much darker and had a very cheap feel too it. They never posted any pictures though so you kind of have to take it with a grain of salt for now.

I’m still curious to see one of these NC bullwhips myself though, maybe the Noble Collection will put them on sale for 60% off like they did with the swords.

Even at 60% off I wouldn't touch it. They look like garbage...don't waste your money. Save another $100 and get a nice 8 fter.

Third! ;-) With all the choices out there, It is worth taking several looks and doing your homework before buying.

Just out of curiosity, have you seen one of these in person, and where? What are the shortcomings of this whip, other than the fact that it is just a wall hanger? Again, just curious.

I think the fact that it's almost the same price as a real whip without the ability to last if you used it. I think anyone who bought this would be tempted to crack it - or someone who saw it would try it.

Regardless if it's functional or not...it doesn't look accurate. What is it, like 6 or 8 plait? That's what makes all the difference for a passable Indy whip. You don't need to see a "real" one...look at Noble's photo of their offering and what a "real" whip should look like. That should be all the convincing you need.

Normally you would be preaching to the converted, but in this case at %60 off it might at least make a nice addition to an Indiana Jones memorabilia collection.

Belive me, I am the last person that would be defending these whips, though as I under stood it they where made to be useable…. Now that remains to be seen but there had been rumors that these whips where being produced by the same whip suppliers that send latigo bullwhips to Western Stage props. If that is the case then these should be useable whips, not the best by any means, but usuable. While they may not look very accurate compared to the real deal, if they are made with a decent enough belly construction and a tight quality leather overly they may not be half bad. But honestly, I don’t know. No one seems to know much about these whips yet in any great detail or have been able to provide any photos or information on the final finished product.

I'm involved with a thread going on at the RPF about the NC's whip. No one there has seen one yet (past the photos provided by NC).
There are a few guys there in the market for a good Indy whip and may end up getting the NC blind - without doing the homework first.
My budget for an Indy whip is $200.
Can someone tell me what is the best whip to get for that price. When I say best, I want it to be the most screen accurate and durable within my price range.

In all reality the budget for a good screen accurate Indy Whip is $650. But we all need to start somewhere! Check out Louie Foxx's budget whips, or Todd's. They fall in your price range. And when you do get one, please post and review!

Perhaps I can help out.
I have one of the Noble whips, I managed to snag one real cheap just £70 from a friend who works for NC.
The replica is modelled on the KotCS bullwhip not the Raiders Morgan whip, hence the much darker hide.
It does crack and has a nice flow when it moves.
It's not for die-hard gearheads that's for sure, how could it be when there such great whips available to buy from the guys who made the screen used ones. Given the normal price tag I would pass, I was fortunate to get it for a bargain basement price. It's an odd thing to make as a replica in my opinion. Like I said you can buy the real deal, so why plump for a replica?
Anyway it's a good start and a nice addition to any Indy fan's collection in my opinion. It looks great with the rest of the gear. I will post some images for you all.
I have a Delcarpio on the way from Bernardo which will look and feel fantastic I am sure, in the meantime this will do me fine.
I know how we all revel in the tiny details guys, but honestly I have never met a fellow gearhead and admonished them for wearing/carrying an item that is perhaps not the most SA.
For some it will fit their budget and we should all encorage them as fellow participants in this great hobby. If you have $500+ go mad, if not the Noble whip makes a good display.

I do have a sweet matched pair of 6 foot budget bullwhips in stock right now (and a couple of 8 footers)...hint hint.

Gus's 8 plaits really have a good "indy" look to them.
