A few pics of my new EC Whip

It's an 8 foot Indy style made by Jim of EC Whips that was recently reviewed by Sergei before it was sent to me.

I've only had a chance to crack it about 20 times indoors, as it's been raining constantly since I got it. The fall is currently 23 inches long, and so far I've lost two crackers, and a smidgen of the fall. The wrist loop is 7 inches long folded (the only way I can measure it with a yardstick).

Jim is a great whipmaker, and a pleasure to deal with. I am immensely pleased. :D

This is a shot of it with my hand next to it for a size comparison for the wrist loop (I think it's a perfect size for my freakishly huge hands).

Hey, I am glad you are enjoying the new whip, Zohar! On the crackers, I prefer Kyle's method of tying it on. But you really need to make sure that when you tug, you tug so hard that your fingers almost bleed. There are 2 distinct tugs. One vertical tug up, after the first hitch, and then a final tug to the horizontal. So the advantage is that the knot is very streamlined. But after awhile, you need to cut your loses and do it the old fashioned way, like the one on either the David Morgan site or Mark Allen's. Check out all the links on cracker tying at the main IndyGear site.

As far as the fall, you might to make sure you are conditioning it. I think you mentioned you are waiting for Pecards to come in. I conditioned prior to sending it back to you, but the transport process always dries it out. So put something on it. Shoot, I have read that hand conditioner works. If it's good for your hands, it should work on the fall.

Enjoy, my friend...

Thanks for the tip on conditioning. I just liberally applied some BAG BALM (primarily lanolin) to it, and it seems to be okay now, as it was getting quite dried out. I sure hope I can get to work with it this weekend. The steenking rain will not go away when I want it to!

Thanks much,
~Z

Hey Nathan,

Glad you like your whip! I know what you mean about the rain(and snow!). I got a 22 ft. Zenith Bullwhip made by Peter Jack a couple of weeks ago, and I still haven't even cracked it once because it's either raining, snowing, or the ground is nothing but mud from all of it.

Good luck!
Jim :D

In the third pic, things got a little hairy. Look out, King Kong is sneaking up on your bullwhip!
Sorry, simply couldn't resist.

Well, lookee thar! That's a nice whip you got there, Z. I know what you mean about the rain. It started raining last Saturday and hasn't stopped but for an hour or two here and there.

Now, how about coming down this summer so we can check this bad boy out? :)

That's the best whip I've seen from EC Whips yet. Looks great. Keep up the good work, Jim. Enjoy your whip, Zohar.

FYI---My page with the cracker attachment (as with my entire FTP capabilities) is temporarily down. I'm having a lot of trouble with my local ISP and I will be changing services soon. I'll have it back up as soon as possible. An update will be posted when the new link is ready.

That would explain the Jar Jar avatar. But I understand it's a difficult time for you

I was wondering about that avatar, Kyle. For some reason, I thought you were the webmaster for www.jarjarmustdie.com :D

To change up an Empire Strikes Back conversation Kyle......

What have you done to my Avatar?

-YOUR Avatar? Hey, you lost her to me fair and square!

Now back to your regular programming. Oh, great whip! :)

Sorry, I deleted my post because I felt it was too off topic.

To be fair I gave up your avatar. I could have taken it by force but I'm a nice guy. :)

True. I didn't even realize you changed it to Jar Jar until I saw this thread again. Just thought it was too funny that we both picked it out of the hundreds and hundreds of Avitars that TheForce.net has....
