Traditional whip

Today I've got a traditional Bullwhip, made from latigo and a mexican bocote wood handle. The handle has about 12 inches.
It's an 8 plait, and all strands run through to the fall hitch. It was braided by Victor SanSoucie. What do you think?
Take care, Robby

Very fine looking whip. I heard good things about this guy.

Those have been on my radar for some time now...
I would think that the 5 oz latigo would make them quite heavy (which I prefer).
Can you comment on the handling/weight?
Thanks,
Ron

Glad you like it! In fact it's a very heavy whip. It was braided by Skip for the Whip Basics tutorial series. If you're interested in his whips,
check out
www.HandmadeWhips.com I like my whips heay too, because it rolls out nice and slow, and that's perfect for the lessons I give.
So the students can see the motion of the whip in every phase of the technique.
The other thing is, that you can actually
feel where the whip is. And through that long handle you are always in perfect control.
For fast routines it's not the ideal one. As I said - this whip is great when you are out in the fields and practice your technique.
It's a calm and decent way to crack a whip.
If you have other questions and/or want detailled pics - just let me know. I'd be happy to help.
Take care,
Robby

I would love some additional pics... Thank you so much!
Can you take a few in hand to illustrate scale?
Also a few with a meter stick in the background?
Thanks,
Ron

Hey Ron,
I'll take some pics for you, no problem. The only thing... I have no inch scale - only in centimeters.
I hope that'll do the job. 12 hours from now on you'll find the pictures here.

Great!
cm is no problem...
I am one of the few Americans that use (and prefer) the metric system.

Robby,
Congratulations! It's about time Vic got some airtime here... He's a wonderful whipmaker and an all-around nice guy too, and I'm very happy his work is being noticed

Good on ya mate!

Franco,
thanks for the compliment! And - yes - in my opinion Victor SanSoucie is one of the great whipmakers
we have here. He's all traditional and his whips are beautiful. I really suggest to check his website.
And Ron...
Here are your pictures. I hope they're okay. I had no one to photograph,
so I tried to hold and click by myself :o)
and here are the others...
Enjoy, Robby

That just screams cowboy. I really like it. The latigo is so pristine looking and clean edges.

No prob. If you like this style of whips... Here's another one.
It's a seven footer with an 10 inch rosewood handle.
Enjoy, Robby
