i did a quick search to see if someone already posted this.... so hopefully this isn't redundant.

Old Navy is selling a pretty nice close enough indy shirt. and it's only 15 bucks.

http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/product.d ... =614480032

it's a comfortable shirt, a nice medium weight soft cotton twill.

Be sure to check their size chart before you place your order. I normally choose a size large, but according the size chart, I'd be a better fit for the medium.

Although, for the price, you could buy a Todd's shirt for what this one costs, Gap has a close enough now. http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?ci ... =599553012 I've long found Gap shirts to be far superior in quality and fit to ON [even if they're owned by the same company]

But just a heads up for the Gap shoppers around here.

From the photo, the ON looks a better color than then Gap version. But hard to trust online photos.

I just happened to be in an Old Navy store last Friday, 10-31-08 and saw that shirt. It is regularly $24.95, they had a $10.00 off sale; for $14.00 it is a good buy.
As to the sizing, I found that it runs a bit small. I needed a size larger than normal. But for $14.00 bucks, I bought two.

Forrestal

I stopped into ON today and they had the shirts for $10 off. They do run a bit small, so if ordering online it might be best to go up a size.

The shirt seemed ok. The fabric was pretty heavy and I'd call this one a cold/cool weather shirt. The epulets were a bit too short for my tastes. The color was quite nice, however. The length of the shirt was pretty good for someone 6' but I found the sleeves short for me and I was worried if they would shrink even further after a wash. The cut of the shirt seemed less fitted and more baggy than a good Raiders should be - I really didn't like how it seemed somewhat sloppy and big in the waist.

For the price it's not a bad shirt if you find the fit to your liking. I prefer lightweight shirts so combined with the sleeve length, I didn't buy one.

i picked up one of these day even though i think its a bit heavy......
I noticed the GAP one as well, but the GAP one looks a bit too dark, might stop by there tommorrow to see how they look in person, but the price really sorta makes them an unrealistic purchase....... might as well get a todds or WPG one

Urban Outfitters carries several military/Indy style shirts in different colors for a reasonable price. I have about 6 different military style shirts from them.

Well, went out an bought one. Ok, heres the deal. I know they arent totally SA but, let me tell you, for $15 you simply cannot go wrong. The material (heavy cotton) is so comfortable and nice. And the details are a little more SA than you might think. Here are some pics...

Guys, for $15, you cannot and will not go wrong! I almost want to buy another!!! :) I almost feel like investing $20 bucks and lengthen the epulets and change out the buttons. But thats just me!

How did the size run for you? What color did you get?

I got the "white" but its really more of a very, very light khaki. I got an XXL and it fit fine but, since I normally where an XL, they do run a little small. But I had no problems...Such a great shirt!

No white available now. The lightest they have is Pumice, it looks pretty good. I went ahead and ordered it. Good price.

I purchased on from the Old Navy website....shipping was pretty fast, and as previously stated by ReturningSon, for $15, you can't beat it.

Unfortunately, these do run small.....Mine was "ok", a bit tight through the shoulders. I was going to return it for the next size up, but my wife decided she liked it for herself! :P

I'll order another in a larger size for myself as it really is a steal for the price. The material has a good weight to it, it's perfect for those of us who can't afford to spend $80 on a shirt.

I ordered it on the 8th and rec'd it today. Shipping was fast enough for me. The shirt is very well made and would make a great "close enough" shirt except it's a bit thicker than I had imagined. It does run a bit small, but I fit just fine in my normal size large. If you are on the fence at all for the size I would order the next size up. Although I fit fine in a large, if I was a slightly bigger guy, or my arms were slightly longer, I would need an XL for sure. The sleeves fit me very well which usually means that the sleeves run short for most other guys. I don't have long arms.

All in all it's a really great shirt, well made, very comfortable, the khaki color (pumice) is outstanding IMHO, and the material is a great soft 100% cotton. Good deal, even if you don't use it for an Indy shirt.

I think Old Navy has changed their sizing, I used to wear a medium in their tshirts, but the other day bought 2 and had to exchange them because they were too small.

thats because like most retailers, they think americans are the same size as we were in colonial times and anyone over five foot six and 100 pounds suffers from gigantism or acromeglia.

I had to order my Mutt shirt online, because they only carry "tall" sizes thru the internet. You dont want me in your store, fine, start making the doorways smaller.

For a moment I thought they were reselling a pervious Old Navy close enough which I like much better. In fact, it's my favourite close enough. While it didn't have the epaulettes, it did have a military fit and thin seams down the front of the shirt. In hindsight, I wish I would've bought several and had one altered.

My shirt was purchased at 'cough' Macy's and it was about 10 bucks, but it had the epaulettes and the front pockets. The actual tailoring of the shirt is just like the Indy shirt. The color is much whiter though, but for ten bucks, it was a good buy. They dont sell it any more (thats why it was on sale maybe! haha  ) The only thing was that when the sleeves are rolled up, they can be buttoned into place, I just cut the buttons off and now it looks great.
