Indy Bag On "24" / Jack Bauer

I am not sure if this has been brought up here. I did see a few messenger bags when I searched, buit not this one. This shot is from the Fox show "24" starring Kiefer Sutherland as Agent Jack Bauer, who heads a field operations unit of the Counter Terrorist Unit.

The bag looks very Indylike, but not being an expert on the various MK's and other similar bags, I know this is the best place to ask. I am confounded by the 3 drainage holes, single center snap and extra-long web strap. At least all on the same bag.

Can anyone ID this?

If anything I would guess it's a MKI MK II...

Definitely in the series, but not our MKVII.

It looks a lot like a MkVI, but that center snap is different and the strap is really long. Maybe a MkV?

I guess Jack got tired of it being called a man-purse and decided to go straight to the source for his wardrobe.

Its funny because even the back pack looks similar to Indy's from CS.

Can you get a pic of his shoes so we can compare if they're Alden’s or not?

Well an MKVII can bee seen TOD with the three drainage holes but I have never seen a bag with a single center snap. It could very well be an original the prop dept. modded or a variation we have not seen being Indy "gearheads".

This is my mkVI but it doesn't have the center snap so maybe they did modify Jack's

Interesting combination of the bag and backpack. [someone must have been watching KOTCS] The strap isn't SA.. haha

I like the strap. Must get one of those.

If I had to guess about the bag, I'd say it's purely a prop designed for scripted functionality, which would explain the single snap. It would hold the flap closed, but give the actor quick and easy access to stuff kept near the sides during an action sequence.

Oh, I like it too, just making the stereotypical comment that something isn't SA.

How much do you want to bet that the guy that designed it in the prop department is a member here?

It's good to see Indy's digs being used in other films... again about that back pack.... :[

I think it looks like some sort of repro bag. Those canvas 'lanyard loops' on each side look like a repro I've seen somewhere, I just can't remember where.

I wouldn't mind having one, I think it'd be MUCH quicker access to your contents with one snap.

hmmm... how about a third snap in the hem of a MK-VII flap, so it still looks accurate, but you can secure it with just the center snap for easier access.

I've searched for this bag for weeks now and come up with nothing.
I thought a 1 snapped 3 drainage hole gasmask bag would be easier to find. Guess not.

That one snap flap looks really odd! It keeps reminding me of... something... I just can't place it... Oh, wait...

I feel a bit retarded that I just happen to see somewhere while flipping channels last week exactly what this bag is for and where it came from but I just cannot remember now.

Both the 2 hole and 3 hole bags were used in this scene in TOD.

Cation: The above still shows his MkVII with the 2 vents. The scene then cuts to the effects bag (below), a MkVI with 3 vents

Would anyone here be interested in one of these modified MK bags? I was thinking of doing a smaller run of the Bauer MK, but need to know if there is enough interest. I'm guessing it'll be in the same price range as my other bag (around $35, shipped and hopefully including the web strap).

Kind regards,
Magnoli

Hey Indy, I bet the whole '24' crowd would go nuts for them.

Hey Indy, just curious, how did those Bauer jackets from a couple seasons ago sell?

Yes, I'd be offering them with the canvas strap.

The Bauer jackets have been a big hit! Thanks.
