Hat Boxes

Post by The Penitent Man »

I want a nice hat box to store my Lid in...who's got good boxes like those black optimo boxes Fedora mentioned in the John Williams thread?....

I saw hat boxes at JJ hats but they're too short to keep the high crown of an indy fedora housed!!

im not looking for a time capsule here!!!...just a sturdy hat box big enough for the fedora that holds the hat in place and wont affect the hat (Taper, Brim Damage etc.)

Any thoughts?

I don't have any thoughts, but I do know BendingOak is looking into hatboxes. He's planning to offer them on his website. Maybe you could ask him?

I'd be in for one as well, if they are a reasonable price.

I've been looking as well. Thought I had a lead, but turned out they no longer carried them.

I have been working on getting hat boxes to sell to customers to store and protect their hats. Nothing super fancy but something to get the job done.

Hello, I put some week ago a thread about the hat Boxes, here are some pics:

Here's the box containing my black Borsalino fedora :P

It's made of cardboard and in fact you could make one of these... the shape it's pretty simple and very effective.
Hope that helps!

I would love to find the company who makes them. Any markings on the box?

C'mon people, someone start buying these! I want to know how well they actually work before spending my money on them :P

Seriously though, that black "hat box" looks really interesting...I would just be afraid of it not fitting our ever so carefully curled brims, and tapering the hat as if it were laid on it's brim.

Brian

Well I put my Akubra open crowned in the box and fits all right, in fact there is still some room in the bottom of the box, so your 5 3/4 in. crown will fit! The good news are that this boxes are about $4 USD, the bad news are that they're made in Mexico, therefore the shipping cost may increase the cost. If there's anything I could do for you, just ask ;-)

Nope, the only mark is the trademark Tardan outside of the box, I think they make the boxes for themselfs. :-k

If you want I could give you the meassurements of the pattern, you could do it and it would be 5 times cheaper. Of course if you want, I could ask for the shipping cost and send you some of these. ;-)
