Just thought I'd share in my excitement. Can't wait! First thing's first, off to YKK to order an aluminum zipper:)

I decided to go with a 26" back and 26" sleeves, based on some jackets I have.

Thanks for all your help, guys! Especially Agent5 as I decided to mostly follow your plan, with the exception a slight pocket placement change based on some screencap measurements.

I was tempted to get some pants too but they're dry clean only and...well...I'm not sure I'm up for that level of care just now!

*before I order this, this says 'left hand insertion' for the zipper- that means it's on the left side as in the UK, yes? http://www.ykkfastening.com/global/search/index.html

Congrats on your first jacket purchase. I am assuming you ordered from Wested from the measurements you provided. Peter uses YKK zippers in silver so no problem there. Yes in the U.K. the zipper is on the left side. I am not sure if it is like that for all jackets, but yes it is on the left side. I hope your jacket turns out great and don't be afraid to get some pants because they are dry clean only. I think I had my pants pressed and that has been about it. If you want them to last longer I recommend dry cleaning, some people have washed theirs, but you do have to be careful. Anyway can't wait to see your jacket.

yep Wested:)

I assume the nickle he uses is the same color as the aluminum? Is it really that big a deal, I wonder, to use aluminum? I mean if the pull is going to snap off in your fingers (and I tend to accidentally put too much force into a lot of motions and break things...like the door at the movie theater...let's just say me and my brother were messing around and there was a loud metallic screech and a bent door...), I'd rather just go with a visual analogue.

Anyway I understand a lot of people like to wash it in warm water when they first get it as part of the distressing process? Just wear it wet then til it dries? Because that'll be kind of a problem if I'm at work hehe

Go with nickle it will last longer, and is still 'silver' like the aluminum.
Most people will never tell the difference.

Now as for the 'dry clean only' pants...Have you looked at Indy's pants in the movie? Do you think he only dry cleans them? :|

I was thinking maybe if you bought them a few sizes too big even if they shrink in the wash, there must be a limit to how far they will shrink, right? After that point it might be ok... I'm not willing to put that much money on a hunch though hehe

*turns back to the mythbusters episode on right now showing the LC bike flip scene*

They are wool, they can be washed as for any wool. I wouldn't put them in a dryer.

I also ordered an authentic brown jacket, maybe receive them at about the same time? I initially wanted the zip on the right hand--US side, but Peter informed me that they would have to take the zipper apart and reassemble it. The European version has the pull on the left side. No use for them to go through the hassle in mho.

well yeah I guess I should have implied by wash I mean 'wash and dry', sorry, when I say that I mean both hehe as it's never a one-step process for me.

hopefully we will! I am asking him to change the length to 27.5" as I realized while 26" looks ok on a jacket I have that has elastic at the bottom to keep it tight to the waist, on a raiders at my height it'd barely go past the waist, let alone to the back pocket flaps on my pants. I do hope it wasn't too late, as that only came to my attention after someone pointed out that it'd get verrry cold in winter if the thing is level with the bottom of my shirt.
