Fedora Etiquette
Just a quick question about fedora etiquette. I know that the decent thing to do is to remove your hat when indoors but then what do you do with it. Let's say you wear it to work and go into a meeting. There is no hat stand or jacket hook around. Do you just set it on the table, hold on to it, etc?

Hi,
First, clarification (I copypaste this from another intervention of mine in a recent thread):
"Civilian" hat etiquette is NOT the same as military hat regulations. Military regulations usually require for headgear to be removed indoors. Civilian hat etiquette only requires this to be done inside an inhabited home, in a church (or religious building), in a funeral or to the flag and national anthem. You do not have to remove your hat if in public spaces like shops and the like, not in bars if at the counter - but you have if seated at the table.
So, if you enter a shop, or the mall, your hat can remain on your head, so no trouble.
This said, some people do not feel comfortable if they do not remove their hat indoors (any indoors place), so it is your call.
Where to place the hat? Wherever it is the safer place. Nowadays there are no facilities for this, as there were on a bygone era, so place it on an unused chair besides you (if in a restaurant, for example), on your lap, on a coat hanger... I am a regular hat wearer and I carry with me a plastic bag, in my pocket, so I can put the hat inside it and hang it somewhere if there is no better alternative.
Regards!
