Wested Copper Novapelle

I took these pics a couple of weeks ago at the barn. Peter hasn't posted them (don't blame him really!). Pics seem slightly over warm, but you know what the normal NP looks like so you can compare.
Anyway for those interested.
My year old Novapelle against the Copper.
A new Novapelle against the Copper.
Copper Novapelle on its own.
"So Pete, do I get a free jacket?"
"Bugger off!"

for a leather jacket.....the colour and texture is beautiful and would catch my eye instantly (like the buffalo g&b).....but for an indy jacket, stay with the dark stuff

I like this color, different from the normal indy stuff we see!

It reminds me the TN skull jackets. Am I wrong?

Strones, you beat me to it. That's exactly what came to mind when I saw this new jacket. Personally, I think it looks great as a hide for a CS jacket.
Now, what would make my DAY, a side by side pic of a TN CS and a Nova.Copper Wested CS. But... what are the chances, right? ;-)

I suspect this similarity in colour is just an optical illusion, as in some pics TN kotcs jacket looks darker, more as a Wested novapelle.

What exactly IS Novapelle?

It's cow hide

Drawing on my knowledge of Romance languages, it has something to do with "new skin", but what is it really?
Posted: Wed Oct 22, 2008 2:02 pm
by Indiana Strones
It'a cow hide used by Wested for its jackets.

Just wondering why then, instead of saying cow leather or cow hide, you choose to say Novapelle, and why, when I google Novapelle, I pretty much only get wested or indy related results.
Try it out, you'll see what I mean. Also, that word doesn't exist in the dictionary, so you'll see why I might have been confused.
Even if you do a product search on the wested site for "novapelle", nothing comes up.
I think this is some word made up by COW members to confuse me.

No, the word is from Peter. See here:
http://www.indyjacket.co.uk/frjacket.html
Also, you can choose the novapelle hide in the custom jacket "order form" page.

Stephen, can you post an outdoors pic, because from your pic that really looks like normal novapelle to me.

by stephenc2032
Hi KT,
I haven't got any outdoors shots yet, but I can assure you it's a copper novapelle. The reason it's substancially darker is that I've given it a thorough 'going over' with pecards.
When I received it, it was alot lighter and had the chalkier finish the novapelle is known for. However, I thought it looked a tad too tame & thought it would benefit from some 'light' distressing ala Tony Nowak.
However, after 15 frenzied minutes with the sanding paper I realised that perhaps I had over done it slightly.....
This is what led me to pecard it in a bid to subdue some of the markings.
No doubt it will lighten somewhat in the coming weeks, although I do think it looks reasonably 'CS' screen accurate at present ( depending on the scene you look at ).

What's wrong with the construction of this jacket? It looks like half is made from one leather, and the other half a different leather. And what gives with the third collar and four sleeves?

Mutated jackets are the new look Bink
You've got to keep up the pace ;-)
Hey stephenc2032, when you received your jacket, how long did it take you to fight temptation and distress that jacket??? hahahaha
Lets see some outdoor pics

I was giving her a beating within 15 minutes of us being aquainted!
In hindsight I dont know what came over me, I got swept up in the moment & was a little to gung-ho & cavalier about the whole thing!
All in all, I'm ok with it now, although if I had the choice again I would opt for au-natural!

Hi KT.
Hope you are well pal. I really like the look of the copper leather; especially on that CS jacket. This jacket would be a good jacket to wear when you are not wearing the darker skin; its almost like looking at a completely new style in the Indy range.
Thanks for sharing,
Paul.

The Grail Tablet is now finished; I am not very satisfied with it to be honest. I am going to re paint it and try to straighten out the back of it as it has bowed a little. Thanks for asking.

What is wrong with all of us? I blame it on TV myself. Yeah, the one playing the KOTCS DVD. Maybe that had something to do with it.

Have you guys ever worn your copper novapelle with your gear? I would love to see how this looks. I was thinking about going for a "comic book" Indy costume, and this jacket seems perfect. Post some gear shots guys. What a lovely jacket!
BTW - do you have to do something special to get the copper novapelle? I looked on the ordering page and I can't seem to find the option for a copper color anywhere. What would I do to go about getting this jacket?
Cheers

It could be the jacket Indy wore when in the nuclear test area. The radiation has changed it somehow. I hate to see what Indy looks like now.

I love it! -Even though I don't like pre-distressed leather. Hopefully Copper Novapelle stays around for a while.
As far as it being too light, come on- you know you'd be opening the bag with one hand and reaching for the Pecards with the other, so it would probably look perfect!

Hello!! Thanks everybody!!
This is a custom jacket, the back is no 100% screen accurate. I like more X-Box stitch and rectangular sliders. D rings is for LC jackets, yes, but I like X-Box for durability and consistency of the seam.
I have a LC authentic brown lambskin and other lambtouch too, and waiting a raiders authentic brown lambskin ...
I promise you pics ;-)
Regards!!

I wonder if the regular or the copper novapelle would be better for an LC jacket. I've always thought the regular would be the way to go but I've got a production shot of Henry Sr. and Jr. and it looks like the copper would really match up well (especially if darkned just a little with Pecard's).
Thoughts?

Very good point. I think that the Novapelle would make a good LC jacket but the regular is probably closer.
I'll go back into the woodwork now.

The hide on that jacket looks 'thick'. The sleeves really look like it could be cowhide.

I'd received a Copper, and really liked it right away. It could be one of the best, if not the best leather offered in the barn. Some distressing, but it reminds me alot of the cowhide jacket that was offered for sale just after LC. Very soft leather, seems broken in already. The pockets measure 5 3/4 x 8, and might want a different spec.? Collar needs some getting used to to, but grows on you fast. It's different, but in a good way. Color is 'warmer' than the original. Some seem to go for cowhide when considering a LC.
