With all due respect, if you can afford multiple hats in that price range this really falls under "Problems of the Idle Rich".

We've seen a few of Oak's hats around, and they look great, but, with all due respect to Oak, I'd very much like to see one of those beaver DPs reblocked, so...

Coming from a Penman owner it's no contest! The Penman is the best hat I've owned bar none and falls in at just under #1, which are the ABs.
And to be honest...a Dorfman is still a Dorfman even though reblocked and with a ribbon change.

i ma not really all that rich, i am just more in the right place at the right time.
the $500 Dorfman did not cost me anywhere near $500 ( i am not say how little i got it for) it is just that its regular going price is $500 everywhere i look on line, i wasnt going to pay $500 so i just let my fingers do the walking...

The DP looks ten times better than stock but it's still the Penman all the way.

Bruce, I think I'm not mistaken when I say you are the only one in this community who own a beaver felt DP. Nobody ever dared to spend 500$ for a DP when he could have spent them for a better lid, so nobody ever submitted a review. Lucky you to have got it for a minor price.
If I may suggest, you could open a new thread in which you could tell us about your beaver DP, maybe doing comparisons with other hats you own/know.

You guys with digital cameras, if the camera has a macro setting, use it.
If not, back up a few feet and zoom in.
These new fangled digitals just don't do closeups well without a bit of work.

And for those of you that don't know what the macro setting is, 99% of the time just push the button or turn the knob to the little flower.

That has to be one of the most beautiful bows I have EVER seen! John, your work is improving exponentially. I almost want to be the snot outta my Penman so I can send it back for a premature reblock and see what more magic you can work on it.

Thats not mine it's Optimo. It's not bad at all. It could be a little more SA but nothing wrong with his work.

OK Bruce,
That work night has come and gone. Which one did you wear? I would vote for the Penman as is looks better to me. I like the top bash better.
Now that I've got the LC leather jacket, a Webley replica on Rook's workbench, and a potential offer made for a LC holster, I might have to make a LC hat one of my next purchases, once I land a new job.

I am looking forward to your hat stand offering Oak as I have a very special hat on order that I will need a proper hat stand for. My Fed IV rest on an insert that it came with when it is not being worn.
P.S. I now know that I spend to much time on COW. As I was preparing to post this response, my five year old son responded upon seeing BO's avatar, "He's a hat maker!"
