Hey all,

I accidentally left my whip bag (a WWII Mussette Bag) in the car during the day. The bag heated up and the Pecards must have liquified in the intense temperatures, because it leaked out of the jar all over the contents and through the bag into some jeans underneath it.

Luckily, my DM whip was out of the bag at the time and with me and my car seat leather was protected by the jeans.

My question is: What is the best way to get excessive Pecards salve out of clothes and canvas?

I'm not even GOING to attempt to advise, except to say use the phone number on the Pecards can or website and ask for customer service. They can tell you how best to reverse what has occurred. No reason to be experimenting with clean up here. Talk to the experts, then share with us. Call 800-467-5056, ask for Eric, and tell him I sent you. They're there from 8-5 M-F Central time. Regards. I have had that happen in my whip bag before. I have since decided just to leave the Pecards at home where I do my cleaning.

I do keep a small container of Pecards in my whip bag. It's the small 2.5 oz tub. It's really a nice convenient size to carry in your bag and highly recommend ALWAYS packing Pecards in your bag.

I have experienced what Indy French saw, but fortunately I saw the liquification while the tub was sitting on a table in the sun. All I did was securely seal the lid back on and wrapped the tub around an absorbent cloth I carry to wipe down my whips. Nothing leaked out, but the cloth would have captured any errant flow of Pecards.

And BTW, I have noticed that in this liquified state, the lotion really, really, gets absorbed into the leather better. In fact at the last WWAC convention, we were sharing our same experience there. That the warmed up Pecards is absorbed better. In fact, one guy I know puts the conditioner on a warm setting on a hot plate. That's extreme, I have used a hair dryer to warm up the lotion.

You really do need to carry the lotion in the bag at all times. The falls always need to be conditioned prior to cracking and right after a session. If you find yourself going through a lot of falls, then the lack of conditioning is the culprit. Otherwise, you get cracks in the fall either from letting them dry out too much and/or from the abuse the falls gets from the sheer force of cracking at 750+ mph.
