G&B Expedition Quick Question Please Advise

Post by indyrocks »

This might be obvious, but it isn't to me....

Can the G&B Expedition be custom ordered as far as sizing goes? I don't mean a list of uber specs I mean can I request longer sleeves and a more fitted body for my slim build?

It was my understanding some time ago G&B/Flightsuits no longer does custom sizing. You can order a regular jacket with long sleeves, or a long jacket with extra long sleeves, or a short jacket with extra long sleeves...etc...etc, but they won't do any "tailoring". Also, any special order jacket is not returnable I believe. Many were pressing the limits of their no questions asked return policy (myself included), and I think they cut it out. I'll bet I ordered and sent back 4-6 jackets from their clearance page.

Interesting...that's too bad because OTR sizes never fit me. I need a slim fit with long sleeves. Oh well. Just contemplating some options...

I know what you mean. I am in the same boat! I am heavily condisering a Magnoli though. He can do the custom tailored fit and any mods too. The price is very close. Just a thought.

I have a question for GB owners.

please only answer if you have a 44 regular. does the GB jacket run a little bigger then a normal 44 made after millitary jacket specs?

a size 44 jacket made after the millitary specs has the pit to pit of 24'' (like wested)

does the GB 44 have a pit to pit of 25'' ???

First of all, I'll address the OTR issue. I originally ordered a 44 Short because I wanted shorter sleeves. Had to return it because the torso was too short. I then ordered a "Made to Order" 44 per some instructions: 2 inches extra room in the upper torso, shortened sleeves and a hidden snap at the bottom of the storm flap. They complied and delivered, quite well, I might add. The made to order jacket will cost $100 more, and is non-returnable.

The 44 with an extra 2 inches in the upper torso measures 27 3/4 from armpit to armpit.

Also, you have the choice of a dark brown satin type lining or a black cotton type lining. The first jacket I received had the black lining in it, and I prefer it over the brown satin type material, though a matter of preference.

That's one of the reasons why I sent the 44 Short back was because it was somewhat too tight in the chest. The Made to Order was made for a more relaxed fit.

Last time I ordered an Expedition, a few years ago now admittidly, after apparantly custom sizing had been discontinued, you COULD order custom sizing, but it was an extra $150 or so. I went with the custom sizing and got a perfect fit. I think the siutation is probably the same now but you will need to check with them

There's a lot of tosh written about size. My G&B 42T fits me perfectly - I am thin, 180 pounds and six foot two. This same jacket also fits my friend perfectly. He is five foot nine and 230 pounds. It fits my other friend perfectly, he is 6 feet 3 and 190 pounds. It also fits my Dad perfectly he is 5 foot 10 and 200 pounds.... It's all about body proportions and either less or more complex than we imagine. :)

I would have my measurements taken (don't take them yourself). Then call G&B and have them suggest something for you. Cheers

I just received a G&B Dark seal goat 44 R and a 44 T, and kept the 44 T. The only difference between them is the 44T jacket length is about 1/2" longer and the sleeve is one inch longer.

This page has the exact specs:

http://www.flightsuits.com/leather_sizes.html

You can see on the table all the way to the right the difference is Tall vs. Reg.

I am 5-10 1/2" and 185 lbs, with a 43" chest and 40" waist (I know, I'm "portly", but I will NOT give up my waffle fries or my coffee ice cream), and both jackets fit fine around the torso.

It's just my long monkey arms were too long for the 44 R, and I preferred a longer jacket in case I didn't feel like tucking in the t-shirt.

To answer your original questions, yes it can be custom ordered, within the usual suitcoat type parameters, such as even sizes, 40-42-44, etc. Just as a suggestion, if you ordered a standard, OTR size, or a Tall, you could get a feel for the sizing, and could return it without having to deal with the issue of the made-to-order non-returnable policy.
