Noticed in the "Iconic Props" segment, that the propmaster said that LFL had sent over certain items from the prior films, including a couple of Indy's "haversacks". And that they made five or six replicas (but used one of the originals as the hero).
...evidently the man was unaware it was a found item.
Yeah, I noticed that too. The only thing I could think of to explain it is it would probably be easier to make replicas of the one bag they liked as the hero bag than to try to find vintage bags that actually matched.
To me the shirt seemed more grey than stone and the pants were more brown than khaki or even the Raiders grey/khaki. Its not bad, just different. I really like the colors, the really jump out of the screen, especially in the Blu-Ray.
Usually that's an existing item that the prop master and assistants are sent out to 'find' in stores and the like, rather than 'made' by companies like Western Costume.
The haversacks all came from a military surplus store in the London area before they made the IJ films.
I was personally told in a phone call with a prop master a couple decades ago that bag straps were fabricated from old military rifle slings before MBA started making them.

His socks are dark brown I was also, surprised to find out that the "haversack" was the same from the ACTUAL archives, must have been from LC. Can anyone confirm or correct that?
I was just watching the KOTCS Production Diary feature (for the FOURTH time this week!) and I noticed that when the fedora is on the ground (at 5:44 on the DVD), it does not have a ribbon! Check it out!
Maybe it was a stunt hat while they rehearsed the scene Speaking of hats, am I correct to assume that the hat given by Speilberg to Williams was an AB?
