Pre-distressed... what?

Post by AdaminNYC »

Hey all,
I got a pre-distressed TOD from Wested just before Peter stopped selling them. A fine jacket, surely, but I was never a fan of the pre-distressedness of it. So I got a Wested cow, which I love.

So I'm planning to sell my pre-distressed on that popular auction site we all know, but I want to list it properly.

The Wested site said that pre-distressed was cow, and I believe Peter said the same thing on the phone. But inside the jacket is a little tag that says "Genuine Real Sheepskin".

(The tag in my new cow just says "genuine real leather".

So what do you think? I totally wouldn't put it past Wested to have grabbed the wrong tab for my jacket. I'm no farmer, and I'm not really sure the difference between a lamb and a sheep, but I know there's a pretty big difference between a sheep and a cow. Though both are delicious.

Anyone have any insight?

If it's really light and soft and if it's easy to mark or scratch, it's probably sheep. Take it to a leather gear guy in town and ask around if you're not sure.

Post a pic of it. Some of own pre-distressed cowhide Westeds and we'll probably be able to tell if it looks like ours. Plus, I don't think Wested offered pre-distressed lambskin jackets back when he offered the earlier TOD jacket. I could be wrong on that last part, but I don't think so.
