Anyone own a Wested ROLA (80s) pattern in washed goat?

Having spent the weekend reading through this forum, I think the ROLA 80s 919 pattern is what I'm after and the washed goat is the best looking leather used by Wested.

So has anyone gone down this path yet? Got any pics?

With the Aussie dollar about to loose all the bounce it got in the last few days, I just bit the bullet and ordered a wested ROLA custom in washed goatskin myself. I can only presume we will get ours cut from the same leather batch.
Race to post photos.

A few hours back, I wrote to Gemma to ask something about the Jacket and she e-mailed me back telling me they cut the leather this afternoon.

So I guess we're on the right path in getting a wonderful jacket ;-)

I have found Gemma to be very helpful and responsive.
Added a late alteration - gussets - and it was all fine, email came straight back that it was not a problem.
Roll on 21 days.

A few minute ago I get my jacket yoohoo !!!

I ordered a custom Raider with Holt’s advices and some of Agent5’s specs. Thanks to Michaelson for helping me choose between Lamb and Goat. So I decided to choose the Washed Goat hide from all the constant praises it got around here. Now I truly understand you IndyFalco and Raider S, this leather is really great!!!

Again, thank you everyone for your advices and help in getting a wonderful jacket!!!

I have a meeting now so I have to go, but when I get back I promise to post some photos !!!

There you go. You really specced that one out didn't you!

How do you like it compared with your NP?

Wested did a wonderful job and meet all my requests!

Compared to the Novapelle it's seems like I don't wear a jacket at all, it's so lightweight but at the same time you could feel the leather to be tough.

I love it

KT, tell peter to lock down that design as i think he nailed it this time through :)

there are only a couple minute things i would change (mostly because of my OC disorder) but overall, i have yet to see another best this one.

congrats.

that jacket reminds me of what peter cut for me on that preshurnk veg tanned lamb way back when.....that was the most perfect jacket i got from wested...........except for the extra 'L' in my name on the tag. almost went to city hall to get my name changed to that, it was so perfect

When I open the packet and look at the jacket, I have the same thoughts.
Wested nail it. I'm really really please with this jacket, since I don't plan to buy another. I have my CS Novapelle for winter days and this one for the rest of the year!

It does age rapidly. I've only wore my LC for a couple of weeks and the washed goat is already developing some really good characteristics.

Thanks, I was surprise how the leather became so dry. But with some Pecard everything came back to normal and the jacket didn't darken too much.
I'm really glad how the jacket turn out.

Sure :

I given them my chest measurement and Wested put a 44 tag on my jacket.
Back length: 62 cm (24,4 inches)
Lining / Zip: Cotton Body-Satin Sleeves (not SA but I prefer this option)
Side Fastener: Anodised Black Rectangular Slider
Zip Type: Nickel 5 Zip Gauge
Gussets: yes
Inside Pockets: no extra inside pocket

Pattern: 80’s fit
Storm Flap: 1.5 inches width with a rounded top corner
Zipper: Extends to the bottom of the jacket
Collar: 2.75 inches on the tips, tapering down to 2.5 inches
The left collar should also extend to the midway point of the top of the storm flap
Pockets: scalloped flap
Width of pocket: 6.25 inches
Length of pocket (including pocket flap):7.5 inches
Pocket flap length in middle of flap: 2.75 inches
Pleat depth: 1.25 inches
Side Strap: Length: 8.75 inches; Width: 1 inch
Side straps sewn with X pattern AND box pattern, double stitched
Side vent stitch: no stitch holding the side vents closed.
Yoke seam: The arm seam should be 1 inch below the yoke seam
Back panel: The back panel should extend all the way out to the yoke seam.

As you can see all these things come from Agent5's specs
I didn't say anything about the leather facings but Wested didn't but them on.

Every requests has been respected! Wested did a wonderful job!!!

I really like that jacket. The texture and everything about it is so wonderful. Awesome!

So excuse me on this, but being a person slowly learning about the Raiders jacket, those specs from Agent 5, would apply to any accurate raiders jacket and not change in size depending on the jacket? Meaning, you are say... 5'9" and I'm 6'3" so therefore the specs for an accurate jackets portioning would change? (except for the 1st chunk if info which was specifics to your such as back length)
And how about leather facings, I'm guessing not accurate?

I think you have to scale up the pocket size and the collar.
And for the rest I think it should work.

Leather facings is not SA but I wanted them in my jacket because I was afraid of stucking the lining in the zipper. So I don't tell them anything and I thought Wested would put them on. They didn't and I'm glad they didn't. No chance of the lining being stuck. That's where you see Wested craftsmanship. I have some jackets with no facings and the lining get stuck but no with my Wested.

SpeedRcrX, gosh that looks GREAT !!! Washed Goat is simply an amazing hide. It's hands down one of the best hide for a raiders or LC. Heck, I'll even order a ToD in that hide too.

Great Choice. :notworthy:

So I just called Wested to see how this is coming along and Gemma told me that the jacket had been cut and would be sent out Friday. I wanted to confirm some of the specifics, like sleeve length in particular, stating that I had ordered 25.5 inches.
She tells me they have written down 25.25 inches.
I bring up my confirmation email and tell her, no, I have 25.5 inches there and I restate the contents of the email she sent me. She tells me the jacket has been cut and will be shipped out Friday and that the sleeves are 25.25.
I ask her to please ensure that the sleeves are 25.5 as requested and as stated on my order.
She tells me the jacket will be shipped out Friday.
I ask her if she can ensure that the sleeves are 25.5 please!
She hangs up on me.
What the....? What sort of customer service is this?

Posted: Tue Nov 04, 2008 6:10 am
by SpeedRcrX
I think since the leather is already cut you're going to get 25.25 inches.
I'm surprise by Gemma behavior since she always been courteous and professional with me.

as for you sleeves I don't think you'll see the difference between 25.5 inches and 25.25 inches

I'm pretty sure the sleeve will be ok when you're going to put the jacket on you !

Don't forget the photos ;-)
