My Adventurebilt withstood the rain in Chicago like a champ. If I dust it with fuller's earth, can it be cleaned with a brushing and a damp cloth?
P.S. I've e-mailed Steve with the same question as he is the man who should know best. Waiting for any insights and suggestions.

I know Steve himself uses Fullers on his personal AB. He has posted photos of it before. There should be no ill-effects on any hat.

I have no direct experience with it myself. But I remember reading on Todd's website that Fullers Earth, once applied to a hat, cannot be removed without a professional cleaning-- so, according to him, you should apply it only if you are sure you want it to stay on. Or, perhaps experiment first on a hat you don't care about permanently messing up.

People who sell products such as Fullers Earth may feel the need to make a disclaimer like this so that they won't be held responsible if their customers have unsatisfactory results with the product.

DO NOT use a damp cloth to remove it. The water will set it in and perhaps turn it into a muddy-like substance. You want to brush it off or pat it off with your hands.

In this threadviewtopic.php?t=10327&highlight=remove+fullers+earthof several years ago, it was contended by a contributor that using a vaccuum cleaner with an attachment (probably a narrow nozzle) will take it off. The thread originator replied that it worked well on his fedora.

I hope so, as I may try to use it.
