Whiskey, maybe?
Check the main page write-up on the Indy 4 whip. Should shed some light.

I sent an email to Collin at Australian stock saddle co. and he can send me some. I'll let everyon know what it is in case anyone wants to age the whip like the movie whips.

Good ol' use and abuse will naturally darken up a whip like a treat! But should you find a quicker alternative then by all means share.

They sell a product called Dubbin in brown as well as neutral and tan that they recommend and has worked well......they also sell the whip in antique brown, its a beauty....the dubbin is similar to Pecards but not as much wax..... see Australian Stock Saddle above.....Hatch

I bought my whip on e-bay and received one that was almost black. As it is only used for dressing in gear, I painted it the correct color. I base coated it a light tan and then darkened it using various shades of acrylic on a cloth. Two years later it still looks great and the paint hasn't come off even with use.
