Hi there.

As owning guns is an absolute no-no in the Netherlands, I am considering buying a Lefaucheux Revolver. Because these were made before 1870 they are considered antique and it is legal to own them over here.

Strangely enough it would be illegal for me to have a toy gun or replica revolver in my holster, but one of these is allowed.

My thinking then goes that it is better to have any kind of revolver in the holster than none at all.

I'd like to hear what your opinions on this matter are.

I do realise that no gun in the holster is very SA for the Temple of Doom, but you know what I mean...

I'm not sure what the law in the Netherlands covers about carrying one of those
revolvers in your holster in public ( judging fom what you've said about the illegality
of toy and replica guns, I'd probobly keep it at home ), but as far as collecting one
to complete your gear, I'd say pick one up. They're pretty neat looking, have a similar
frame & grip shape AND a lanyard ring to boot!

'Course, I can't tell size from the picture, but it looks proportionately more like the Webly than the S&W, and it has a Webly looking hammer, too. Congrats! I like the lanyard ring, it'll look good in your holster.

I have the webbing WW2 Webley holster (wich I use for re-enactments) and it fits perfectly in that!



I intend to get the leather WW1 holster, but it's nice to know it will fit!

WOW, that's a beautiful pistol! We have two in the museum's collection with a provenance to the American Civil War. Neither is a well ornamented as the one you picture!

The one in the picture is actually the one I have. That picture was taken by the gunstore owner, who has acces to better lighting and a better camera than me.

Absolutely beautiful! I'd love to have one but the price of vintage firearms here in the US is ASTRONOMICAL!

Hey Joosse, those look like two totally different guns to me. There are too many little details that are different between the two pictures that have nothing to do with lighting and camera used.

Nice gun you have there in any case, it is just not the exact one pictured by the seller.

The ornamentation seems slightly different.

Oh well, I just wanted to get myself an Indy gun that I could legally own in the Netherlands. At that, at least I succeeded.

What unit do you reenact?
Can you guys use dewat weapons for reenactments?

I'm do a CPL in a 1st British Airborne, here in California.
It's pretty far from Arnhem, but I did manage to get to Enschede a few years ago, and our Sergeant has been to the Hartenstein several times, and traveled quite extensively on the routes used by 6th and 1st Airborne.

I see Oosterbeek on your avatar. I assume you are an Allied reenactor?
