I've had the washed lamb and have a ROLA authentic lamb. While I really did like the washed lamb and think it's a great hide, I have to say that I prefer the authentic lamb. It just feels so great and after a couple of days of wearing, it already has the creasing in the arms started that we all like. Just a wonderful, wonderful hide. And it feels like it will take normal wear type abuse. The washed lamb felt more...not flimsy at all but more like it would have to be babied if that makes any sense.

I've not examined a regular goat from Wested (not yet, anyway) but the washed goat is also a really, really good choice. The color is spot on with Raiders IMO and it has a great look and drape.

Get them all...

Is the washed goat a thinner leather to assimuate SA? Is 'washed' a chemical or water treatment?

I agree, the washed lamb needs to be looked after. I love mine but I'm conscious of its durability (or lack of).

How can anyone go past goat...? It's so soft and light It's such a gentle hide and ages so well. Just my op...

I agree that goat combines the best of drape and durability, but there's just something about that lamb.

Both the Washed Lamb and Washed Goat have great looks.
They both have qualities that make it look like an Indy Jacket. W.L is very thin (durability can be an issue) W.G has by far exceeded my expectations for that jacket and has become my favorite of all my Westeds'.

My custom Lambskin Raiders Wested from when I was 18 has grown rather small. My arms are now long er and my shoulders too....I have been looking into a new Wested.

I noticed the "off the rack" Goat LC special.....LC is what I wanted...I was just wondering about the quality of the Goat skin as opposed to the Lamb?? My Lamb over the last 9 years has aged wonderfully. I've worn it every chance I've had.

Does the Goatskin age well? Not to mention. Many people not just myself LOVE the feel of my Lambskin jacket.....how does the goat measure up?

Is the washed lamb darker than the standard authentic brown? From the pics they looks very similar in colour. Anyone has both them here?

There is a difference but it's hard for me to pin down especially since my WL is a memory now. ;-) The washed lamb may be a little darker but there is definitely that different tint that we've discussed before.

And between washed goat and auth. brown lamb? Any colour difference?

Washed goat is darker than authentic brown. I've had lots of Westeds - authentic brown and dark brown - lamb, goat and horse - and the washed goat is the darkest I've owned so far. Personally I think it's perfect.
