Hello everyone.

In my continued search for an affordable, machine washable pant that has the right, or nearly right color, I continue my search...

A gentleman in work is waering "Savane" pants, which happen to have the rear pocket flaps (although not 'pointy' enough) and so I looked them up.

And, as a bonus, big and tall sizes are available!!

Prices are quite good!!

Color (Birch I think) is the one I would go for myself, sight unseen.

I have an e-mail in to them to see if they ALL have the flaps, or only some of them. I will report back once I get an answer...

Taupe might be the color to choose. And for $44 the price is not bad at all.

Wish they had a back view to see the pocket flaps.

well, I heard back from G&L and it sems they hae noting with pocket flaps. I guess that is a discontinued style...

Check these out! I think I'll get a pair- even if not good for 'indy' use, these will be a great pair of pants!

Another update on the pant search...

I found a very nice pair last night, but they have good and bad points...

Good:
Color. I like it a lot!
Fabric: Has the right angled weave pattern seen on the real pants- this is hard to find!
Nice 'hand'
Machine washable!
Price: I paid $29.99 for them (list is ~$60.00 I think)

BAD:
No front pleats
No pocket flaps

I am planning to look this brand up on-line and check for other colors/styles.

I put these on last night with my belts holster, shirt and bag and I have to say these look the best of all the pants I now have... I have to get them into the sun and check the color- I don't expect the 'pink' to come out, but you never know...

Kicking a dead horse here...

I ws in Taget last night, finalizing my Christmas shopping and came across some pants that nearly fit the bill...

Good color cotton (sort of a slightly rusty kacki) with a normal kacki and a darker brown also available, and pocket flaps on both rear pockets. The lighter ones could be colored darker, and the darker ones could use some dye remover too...

Down side: flat front. BUT, my current close enough pants are flat front, yet even without the jacket (i didn't have it in time for Halloween) there was no problem being identified while trick-or-treating with my Niece.

So the brand at Target was "sanoma" or something like that; seems to be a store brand. Price was around $20.00.

How are the back pockets?

Flaps on BOTH pockets; unlike my Orvis and Polo pants in my collection.

Not as pointy as the Noel Howard reference specimen, but the flaps are there!

I just picked up a pair of Izod American Classic pants tonight for $25. 100% cotton, color is "decaf" . No pocket flaps, but I got an extra long pair, should be enough to make some:



They're available at a bunch of department stores and online. Really comfortable pants. I'll post pics when/if I get the pocket flaps to work.

Not bad for $25.00

Well, I let out the folded cuffs on the Izods; plenty of material for pocket flaps, but I can't get the creases out enough to make the flaps presentable. So I'm going to do Indy's military hem on them instead. I'm heading out tomorrow and buying another pair to cannibalize for pocket flaps.

The pants are darker than the above picture shows. I really like them but they seem to be a bit on the baggy side. I'm going to tinker with them; I'll report back with the results.

That would be "Merona", J!m ;-) Myself being a frequent Target shopper decided I might as well have them put me on the payroll, as I go there so much...and they did And wouldn't you know it, the Men's dept. is where I work and yes, Merona IS Target brand. I noticed the pants in question and they do seem quite nice for a close-enough. I'm gonna check on Wed if they come with pleated front. Not a bad product tho

Well . . .

After much effort, I threw in the towel on the Izod pants. In a nutshell, they are just too baggy for close-enoughs. The leg widths at the cuff were 1 1/2" wider than the real pants or presentable C.E.s. So, after an exhausted in-person search over 3 days at numerous factory outlet stores in Myrtle Beach, I came up with these:

The "tobacco" color is the one to get (check the color swatches, not the full-length shot). Good color, moderately heavy twill, comfortable, hang nicely, 7 belt loops. I found them at a Van Heusen outlet for $19.99, so I bought an extra pair and made pocket flaps. Will post pics later this week.

The color in the close up is MUCH closer to reality than the wide shot. I think these are winners, especially for Raiders pants, ESPECIALLY if you can get them for $20.
