Finding Close-Enough Pants in Department Stores?

Post by jnicktem »

Hey all, I am looking for close-enough pants that can be found in a department store (like J.C. Penneys, Kohls, etc...). I am not they kind of person that cares if they are 100% SA, or even 75%, just as long is they are about the same color and kind of look like Indy pants.

Any tips as to what brand/style/color/etc... I could possibly find?

Thanks!

Read evey thread you can here about pants, and view the pics that you see regarding original pants. Look for color first, unless you plan on dyeing them darker. Many of us have had good luck with LL Bean. They have a great microfiber pant available on line. Second thing to look for is the front pocket, as it should NOT be on the side seam. You need pleats obviously. And the one thing that most pants are lacking is the rear pocket flaps. Some members have even gone to the trouble of finding 2 pairs of very inexpensive Wal Mart Khaki's and using fabrric from one to make pocket flaps for the other. Then there are stories of finding great bargains at thrift stores. Buy a 3 dollar pair of pants and experiment with some fabric dye if you need to.

In the end you'll probably just wind up buying a pair of Westeds or Magnoli's if you're really hoooked.

I ordered a pair of those pants from Kohls and the color is very close to their online picture.

Dillard's store brand (Roundtree & York) have rear pocket flaps, front pocket is not on the seam, but the color isn't quite right.

Peace.

I think I am going to have a look at those Kohls pants. The pocket flaps really aren't a big deal for me, as I am not one of those people that need to have all 100% SA gear. I just like the look, and I don't know/care about the little details. Sure, I have the Noel Howard shirt, have 1 Wested Raiders jacket on order (soon to have another), and an AB Deluxe on order, but SA doesn't matter too much to me (I think I just contradicted myself).

Target. Merona. Good color, back pocket flaps, front pockets not on the seam, but no pleats. I like flat front better anyway. They'll run you about $24. There are 4 colors that I've seen - blue, light khaki, dark khaki, and brown. Go for the dark khaki.
