The back of the brim- how many different 'looks'?

The back of the brim is often left out of pics and posts of hats. How many different variations were there? ie. brim turned down, 'snapped' up, curled up (as in KotCS outside hanger scene)?
I know a lot of Raider Fedora's, specifically almost all the 'licensed' ones I've seen, have the rear of the brim turned down.

I'd say curled up/snapped up would look the best! And you know how screen-accurate the licensed gear can be... ;-)
Just my opinion, but brims turned down remind me of that fedora from the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, which was more cowboy hat than fedora... Not something I'd go for.

The Raiders hat is not a regular snap brim. Perhaps it was originally, but in the film it appears to have medium to no brim curl in the back. The Fed 4 tries to replicate this but doesn't have enough brim curl at the very edges.

The back of the brim never looks quite all the way down to me, but in some scenes from Raiders, esp. the SOC scenes, it looks almost flat. It can be very hard to get a true snap brim to look that way without steaming or ironing it. Some have suggested dampening the brim and weighing it down with books until dry.

the raiders hat had a really tiny curl at the edge of the rear brim.....from far away it looks pretty flat but i was corrected in a previous post. one thing that is quite distinctive of the hero hat is that the rear left brim is typically 'kicked' up....perhaps a result of how the hat was turned.
the waterfall hat had the flanged curl at the rear but this dies off quite quickly as brim gets to the sides. makes for quite a distinctive look that you see right when the hero is introduced.
you'll see the TOD cockpit fedora has a true snap down brim at the rear. it can be seen when indy is looking at either failing engines. i think this was a result of ford just throwing the crumpled fedora quickly onto his noggin after willie wakes him up.
now the CS has a perfect flange all the way around the back....but if you look really close.....it's a little crinkled from the costumer's distressing. it just reinforces the fact that hollywood can try to make this hat look old, but the hat will fight back

I forgot about the TOD cockpit scene. It is snapped down all the way. I've always suspected that one was a Stetson because it looks exactly like one of the licensed Indys I bought at that time.

where's those large photos compiled by someone here, with all different angles of the hats from all the movies? might be helpful as a visual references right about now
