There's also a nice A-2 jacket reproduction on the National Geographic site somewhere as well.

I found a few of the EXACT tank crew sweater in a surplus place once, but thoguht $50 was too much for an old sweater. Now they've moved their warehouse and have sort of 'lost' those sweaters... not lost, really, so much as buried. I think I'll get one once they dig them out and organize the place again.

That's the one that most people point to. I should be getting one for Christmas from the UK website...the brown only comes in size large, so no go for the bigger fellas.

I thought browns were gone completely? I must wash mine to shrink it a little bit.

That National Geographic sweater is the Orvis WW2 "Mechanics" sweater. Orvis sells them for $98.00.
Orvis also has some really nice cardigans like in MOTB. You should check them out.

While on my MotB quest I went to their local store. Some good stuff but I didn't find anything that was close. Very much in the theme though. It does also look like they have more of a selection online.
I **** because I owe the group a MotB self-picture.

Totally not MotB but related to mechanics sweaters, David Morgan has just added some Devold marine sweaters:
