Affordable Hat

Post by darthbish »

Hi all,
just a quick note to say that the Aussie Dollar is currently worth about 80 US cents.
This brings a Fed IV down to about 85 bucks and a Fed Deluxe down to about 135.

A good price for a GREAT couple of hats. :D

Thanks for the info, can anyone post any links on where to purchase these hats?

Hi guys,

I think I'm going to take advantage of this good exchange rate. I need advice on color though. I'm going with the Fed IV regular, and I have two ABs from Steve on order, one CS brown, one CS gray. What color Fed IV should I get?

Might have to pick one of these up. For about $120 shipped to the US, it's a heck of a deal right now!

If only I could find my tape measure.

I think that a cheaper way to "get" a hat is to make your own!
Mine cost me about 60$ (40€).

For what I know Akubras are great too.

That fawn color is nice, especially with the dark ribbon contrast. If not, I say get a color that you don't have (or will have). Diversify!

I'm waiting for my Keppler brown Indy but eventually want a grey fedora, too, and this could be a good route to go. A couple o questions:

What's the difference in the Fed IV and the Deluxe (couldn't find the Deluxe on the site)?

I was watching ROLA last night and noticed a grey that was darker than I remenbered. Were there different darknesses of grey throughout the IJ movies?

It looks like most grey offerings out there are lighter. Would they go with a darker grey winter coat?

No kidding. A deluxe, with shipping included, is about $140.

If I didn't have my money tied up on a Camptown I would be all over getting a deluxe right now. Can't beat the price.

With the Australian dollar at a low against the US dollar it sure would be a good time for a new Akubra.
Hmm, I'll have to check the piggy bank. ;-)
