Post your Blue Labels here, and see how many we get?

I don't think they're numbered (?!?)
But I will use this post as a placemarker for when mine arrives.
It has been confirmed, paid for and (I believe) dispatched today

Great! I was just thinking of numbering them off as posted. Rob yours will be #1, and so on....

I'll be number two then (similar to Dr. Evil's number two man, no. 2). I guess I can be number three as well as I ordered two. I was told they would ship today so hopefully I will have them in hand by Friday.

I daresay ulldarborealis and Michaelson will make up 4 and 5.
My, we really bit a good chunk out of this edition, didn't we?
That's already 1 in 9 jackets globally owned by COW members

So that's 6 and, now I think of it, crismans will make 7...
We're fast heading towards at least a 1/4 of these jackets being liberated by COW

It's going to be a feat trying to list them in the order they were received in the mail; I thought we were just going to toss arbitrary numbers against them so we had an overall idea how many are out there in total?
Either way, it's just nice to see so many of the jackets landing in COW hands

I'd just like to see who and how many wound up in member's hands!

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to send mine back to Wings. I've noticed that one of the pocket flaps is quite a bit larger than the pocket itself so the flap hangs over the pocket on either side around .5 to 1 inch.
I've already contacted Wings and returning it isn't a problem. My problem is whether to exchange it for another Blue Label or not. My wife has been so great about my jacket obsession that I'm thinking about getting a lady's Wings jacket for her.

Are they holding onto one for you?

I haven't asked them to as I'm still undecided. I know the clock's ticking so I'm making my mind up tonight.

I'd make sure your wife will wear the jacket before you buy one for her. It would be a very nice gesture, but it would be a waste if she never wore it. If she will, then great. If not, go with another Blue Label.
Dave
EDIT: What should I use to treat the jacket?

Recieved the jacket. I hate UPS because they knock, even though I have a doorbell, and leave after five seconds. I had to go to the UPS shipping depot and pick it up after the driver got back, at around 8:00 pm. Anyway, I got the jacket and I love it. It is now as light as it appears in the other photos I've seen, which I was happy for. I did, however, only recieve one; I ordered two. I will go ahead and call US Wings tomorrow morning and find out what happened to my other jacket. No problem as long I just get the jacket. Bottom line, this is a great jacket. I hope the weather will permit me to wear it soon.

The UPS site keeps jumping all over the place with a proposed delivery date for me, but it could be as early as tomorrow. I have replacement D-Rings coming through the mail and a tub of Pecard's arrived today. This weekend I will take a ton of before and after shots

I didn't notice any flimsyness to the D-rings, but then again, this is my first Indy jacket, but D-Rings are D-rings and these seem fine.

That's cool! As this isn't my first, I figured there's every chance that if Michaelson's calling them flimsy, I'll probably think it too, so I planned ahead.
Got some really nice antique bronze coloured ones.

Same color as the ones it comes with. Good thinking.

Yeah, they weren't easy to find, but when I found them, I stocked up!
45 cents apiece. I bought 10.

If I can bend D-rings with my fingers, they're flimsy. Try doing that with the rings on either a Wested or Wings jacket. I can't bend them without the aid of a pair of plyers. You'll find that all D-rings are NOT the same. ;-)

Apparently USW forgot to ship my second jacket and are sending it out today. Should recieve a tracking number shortly. I worried that they would see an extra jacket lying around and sell it. You can see why that would be a problem seeing as these are an extremely limited edition. No problem though and it will ship soon. Also, edit on my previous post. I meant to saw "It is not as light" not "It is now as light." Sorry if I confused anyone.

I'm impressed by the CS-like, soft leather. Pulled it out of the box and it is as though you had worn it 10 years, already...maybe someone did?
. The inside lining is 50/50 nylon/acetate, very comfortable. In terms of heaviness, the jacket is medium, not too light and not too heavy for cowhide, would you say?
Do you concur, Dr. U ?

by DR Ulloa
Definately. I don't have very many leather jackets because the weather here doesn't permit them to be worn very often. I've only owned one other cow hide jacket and it is a Wilson's biker jacket, exactly like Mutt's. This jacket is much lighter, but enough to make me break a light sweat when I put it on last night (It's Miami so it was about 80 degrees out). I think it is prefect weight. I too was surprised by how soft it was. Like you said, Scott, it feels like someone had been wearing it for a couple of years. I like that feeling. Oh, and the color is perfect. Exactly what I wanted.

Got the jacket in...and I'm somewhat disappointed. The color was much lighter than I was expecting. It's almost a beige to my eye, and lighter than the photos posted here showed me. Also, someone else mentioned an issue with the pocket flaps, and I have almost the same problem. Very uneven, and wider than the pockets themselves.
Anyway, USW will have an extra XL to sell, as I'm returning it.
I will say, though...that cowhide was a ton softer than I was expecting...which makes me even more disappointed that it didn't work out.
To paraphrase George Costanza..."It's not the jacket...it's me."

You could've used Pecard's to darken it. My pocket flaps aren't too bad.

I know. I've been following the thread in the Distressing subsection. But, it's starting from such a lighter color than I had thought, I doubt it would get as dark as the Raiders jacket. If the hide had come in as dark, or even darker (closer to what's on USW's site), as I thought it would I'd probably be keeping it. In sunlight it appears just about a dark tan to me.
Oh well...again, maybe I was expecting or hoping for too much. Certainly not US Wings' fault.

Sure, I am never secretive about stuff like that. (I actually get a bit annoyed at Gearheads who are...)
It's an Australian site, so postage might cost, however, I suppose they are quite light to post:
http://catherinesplace.com.au and simply search for d rings.
You might want to wait until I get mine and conduct some field tests. Pictures on Websites aren't enough, sometimes.

Bad news, guys.
Got the jacket - and it's too snug.
It zips up, but it's just, I don't know, maybe a size off being "right".
Unfortunately I will be eBaying it because there's no returns on overseas-sent jackets.
What a bummer. The jacket is really nice - darker than any of the pictures I've seen on the forums.
A dose of Pecard's and this would be an absolute winner.

And just another thing... my Wested Horsehide is marked as a 48. The US Wings Blue Label fits me exactly the same as that jacket, despite the site saying that such a 2XL was basically a 52 and a loose fit with it. I'm a bit disappointed that I purchased with the idea that I was going up two sizes, and a loose fit to boot, and it really fits no different than a standard Wested 48

...hate to hear it, Rob! I knew you were looking forward to receiving the jacket. Any chance of an exchange?
Posted: Tue Sep 23, 2008 10:37 pm
by Rob
No, as I said, I believe all o/s orders are final in that regard.
I understand and respect that policy.
The only stink of it is that I bought the jacket in the belief it was a loose-fitting 52, ie: two sizes above what my Wested is at 48, but it's identical.
So although the purchase was ultimately mine to make, it was based off information on the site which I believe is erroneous.

I'm sorry Rob. I guess I lucked out with the sizing and it fits me comfortably. As far as the color goes, the jacket I recieved is just about the same color as the USW photos are. I don't think I will be using any Pecards to darken up the leather. I like it just as it is. It even drapes well, something I've heard cow hide is not great at.
