I found one of these are they any good? Indiana Jones Khyber Bowie Knife has the indy name on the blade. Are they show peices or useable

To my eye the machete in Doom looks a lot less fancy. The brass looked undecorated. I suspect that if this IS the same prop used in the cable bridge scene it was stripped down. I'm pretty sure there was no brass rail along the back of the blade, which would have make a useless machete with it on.

ya i have one- they are just for show. technically i guess you could sharpen it but it is intended to be a display piece. it really looks nothing like TOD

Although not a very flattering candid of me in my detective office, the Bowie is on the wall behind my desk. Not a real-use machete by any means, but a nice display piece

If you are good at handiwork you can buy a cheap machete-like and adapt it by cladding parts of the handle in thin brass.
If it's strictly for show, not use, even changing the handle shape with epoxy putty and spraying with gold paint can look convincing.
If the gold paint will take it, coating it with a thin layer of clear epoxy glue will make an almost indestructible 'varnish'.
I bought something labelled 'general purpose garden clearing tool' for £4 at my local hardware store. It has a lethal 24" blade. I think it was thus labelled because it's clearly an imported machete, which it's illegal to sell here.
I wont post pictures as the adaptation I made was not to make it look like the TOD one - just to make it more sturdy, but it shows it's possible.
By the way, does it clear gardens? I should say so! Even trees are no match.

I owned one of these and just sold it not long ago. It's an attractive looking collectible piece, but has nothing to do with TOD, as others have said. It is smaller and much more ornate than that machete, a close copy of which which, I believe, can now be purchased from The Noble Collection.

The Khyber Bowie I had came in a colorfully illustrated box, with Indy's "signature" etched onto one side of the blade, a brass eagle's head handle, a leather sheath embossed with the Indy logo, a certificate of authenticity, and the story of the knife, supposedly recounted by Indy himself, on the side of the box.

If you prefer to make your own props there are a number of options for starting points to adapt as an Indy machete.
What many westerners call 'machete' are actually called 'parang' in the far east. knowing that can improve your search.
Another option is to look for either replica Anglo-Saxon 'scramsax', or even european dress uniform sabres.
It all depends on your skills and budget.
Before you get too involved I have to point out that the machete in Doom isnt Indy's at all - it's taken from the thugee thugs, used and discarded.
