I once had a crush on the Raiders hat, but thankfully I met someone else.

Seriously the hats were shaped differently in all 4 films, and sometimes there are different shapes within the same film. The photos Strones posted above are some good examples. There are others in the Indygear main fedora section.

Some of the bashes can look pretty similar, and it's just a matter of training your eyes to distinguish them.

The CS bash makes the fedora look like it's carved out of chocolate. Yum.

Do people forget about the main site replete with much useful information?!

I've found quite a few of my questions answered there. So a word to the newer folks, if you can't find it by searching, try the main site!

P.S when I was a kid, I liked grape Crush.. if I tried to drink it today I'd probably be sick.

I still haven't gotten used to that CS hat. I know it's a AB and it's the best and all that but I don't like it at all.
It's just my opinion, please don't stone me to death!

Stone him!!! You're allowed to have your opinion, my friend. Personally, I think my CS AB is one of the best looking hats on me. I like to judge my hats by how good they look on me, not other people.

I'm just saying it's my least favorite on Indy. As a stand alone hat it's great.

I think of the CS AB the same way I think of Daniel Craig as Bond. He is good, really good and given time, we may all think of him as better than Connery. For now, however, they are tiefor best 007...in my book at least.

Well, this must be where I jump in and say
"Oh Puh-LEEEEZ Bink! Let's see some photos of that beautiful thing!"

:)

As for the different bashes I always think of them like ex-girlfriends and the current love-of-your-life:

The "Raiders" is like your FIRST LOVE... there'll never be another one quite like her... you'll never forget her and that you'll ALWAYS love her on some level...

The "Temple" is like the girl you started seeing when you were trying to get over the loss of your FIRST - she's kinda' the same, but not quite..."right"... not a "keeper"... just a rebound...

The "Crusade" shows that now you've learned more about what your tastes are and how to hone the search for the "right" one... she's PRETTY great... but maybe not the one you settle down with...

Then, along comes the "Crystal" and...
Va-VA-VOOOM! Baby, where ya BEEN all my life?! SHE'S the one you've been holdin' out for all this time... Oh, you'll always have a soft spot in your heart for that FIRST love of yours, but THIS is the kinda' hat you want to spend the rest of your life with...

Ummm...
Wait... Did this whole thing just get... kinda' weird?

:?

Yes that's weird Mitch.
I think the previous statement is right though, given time I think all the hats end up growing on you.
I mean the Raiders hat is nothing like the Temple hat which is sort of like the Last Crusade hat which is close to the CS hat.
They're all very different from one another and each person will find 'the one' that suits them best.

As Bob Dylan wrote:

"They'll stone you when you're trying to be so good,
They'll stone you just like they said they would,
But I would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned."
--Rainy Day Women #12 & 35

Although I love the CS hat in general, I have to back up The Mechanic a little bit here. There is one promo photo in particular in which Indy looks (to me) almost like he's wearing Jiminy Cricket's top hat.

It's probably just the camera angle, though, and I think that's the only photo I have a real problem with. Otherwise the hat looks great.

What can I tell ya bink?
I read "Please explain various crushes" and before you know it I was off and running...
Been with the same woman - the love of MY life - for the last 23 years though... so, maybe I AM a little out of practice in the "variety" category...

But let's put it THIS way:
If I let ALL the hats that WANTED to get on my head ACTUALLY get on my head...?
Well...
I'd be wearing quite a few hats in regular rotation...
All the Best,

Jack, there was one poster where Struzan ended using a sample fedora as a drawing reference instead of the hat that was actually used for Indy. That might be the hat you're thinking looks like Jiminy's.

And Mitch, here's a quick pic of the new AB for you.

Bink,
Actually it was the image used on the Dr Pepper promotions and many others. It's probably just me, though, because like you I have the AB CS and love the way it looks on me. I think I know the Struzan poster you're referring to, and the hat definitely does look pretty bad there.

I usually get crushes on girls, but that's just me, I don't think it needs much explaining. As for constructive responses about variances in hat bashes per film, please see the previous illustrations and posts. :)

If I can get deadly serious for a moment, watching each film while paying especially close attention to the hats is also very helpful. You might be surprised, though, at how many people, even fans, say the hats all look the same to them.

At my expense! :D However, I still stand fimrly by my statement. Admitedly, this should be a part of the 007 thread, but Craig is exactly the Bond that Fleming wrote in his novels.

Though at this rate, the thread is facing its own death. Since the original question has been answered (and all the answers are on the main site) and because it's SO far off course with nowhere else to go in relation to the original post, there's really no reason to keep this one going.
