New Keppler Fedora Showcase: You Got it? Flaunt it!

As I said before in the other thread, I am extremely impressed with the quality of hat and Lee's bashing ability. The felt is extremely soft, yet still has the needed stiffness to keep shape.

I opted for a Crystal Skull bash, which was a great choice to me. Suited my needs for this hat perfectly. Yes, Lee is adept at more than the Raiders bash for those wondering.

Also as promised, here are a few photos:

Will get some better photos shortly, I was experiencing technical difficulties with my off camera flashes, one didn't want to fire. Plus it's extremely sunny outside but couldn't wait to post something for eager eyes.

All in all, the hat has exceded my expectations. It feels substantial, yet lightweight, soft, yet rugged. I highly recommend those on the fence give Lee a call to get the ball rolling.

Can't wait to see everyone elses hats!

Randy

P.S The bottom shot makes the crown appear more rounded than it is, unfortunate choice of head position on my part.. The first shows a good idea of the lack of taper.

The hat looks great. Congrats on finally recieving the Keppler. Definately worth the wait, I think. The bash, however, looks more like a Last Crusade bash to me. The hat is very stove-pipe, even in the one with the "unfortunate choice of head position." I can't wait to see more Kepplers posted.

It looks taller in photos than in person, oddly enough. The box it came in is surprisingly "squatty". I just measured the front of the crown, and it measures a hair over 5" at the top of the pinch.

I'm not used to posing to show the details of a bash. [yet] I "measured" it against this http://www.theraider.net/films/indy4/ga ... ij4_08.jpg photo and it's pretty dead on in person. I only notice a slight difference in the pinch vs. that hat.

I do know the new ones are taller than the previous version. Dave, yours was 5 1/4 open crowned right?

I think so. I gave mine to my father when Oak told me that he had shipped my Penman, so I can't tell you for sure now. I'll try to measure it as soon as I can but 5 1/4'' sounds about right.

Ok, no rush. I have been VERY pleased with the hat.

It is a 5 1/2" crown un-bashed.

The old version was 5 1/2 also?

I've since given the hat to my father, Lee. He really liked it. Your fan-base is growing.

Has anyone else received their hat. I believe Lee said he orders them from BB in batches of 30. If Interchange was one of the 1st, I figured their would be more folks that received their hats by now. Where are the pics!

I'd love to see everyone elses also. Looking forward to hearing other reviews, seeing what they look like on other heads.

Hey crismans, when did you order your fedora from lee?

My hat and I passed the first trial unscathed.. I got caught in a downpour and it weathered it like a champ, there are a few lighter looking spots that should disappear after it's completely dry, but no taper or ill effects.

mcmanm, when did you order yours?

Late April. Got on his site through Indy Gear main page for his phone number. I didn't even know COW existed til later. I wanted a hat for the premiere. Then I was hoping to get it in late August for my kids' birthdays (I was suppose to be Jones). This is my 1st hat and didn't know all of the time involved. Lee said this time was way out of the ordinary. Needless to say "better late than never." :)

I ordered from Lee early in April. I'm looking for mine any day now, too. Glad to hear everyone is quite pleased.

Just arrived! :D Looks great. Lee did a great job. Felt is so rich and smooth. The ribbon was worth the wait. Bash was kinda messed up out of the box (box bent up a bit). It popped right back into place. I went with the Idol Grab. Will post pics tonight.

Definitely worth it. Was concerned because I am a long oval and this is the first time I have been truly asked for measurements for a hat (1st hat). It fits like a glove. I think that is what surprised me most.

My fit was dead on, also, and my first foray into the world of better hats. Lee's very good to work with. I keep saying it but those on the fence should give him a call.

Had a hard time putting pics on the post. I didn't know you couldn't put them on from your computer. Oh well. I sent them to Lee and he said he would put them on this post. Be patient. :)

Hey crismans, when did you order your fedora from lee?
First of June, I think. I think it's a combination of when you ordered and what hat size you are determines how many are in front of you. I wear a pretty big size.

Got it!!!

They go for around $180.00 US including shipping - and bashing too I believe.

Lee's website http://www.adventure-supply.com/ is down while being repaired after being hacked.

From what I've read on COW, lee likes to talk over the phone. I've done that and sent him emails, too, which he does respond to, though he' seems to be pretty busy these days. You can find him in about 21 rows down on the first page of the Members list.

Bump. Anybody else get their hats yet? Halloween's about three weeks away and
I'm going nuts!! I realize Lee is very busy ( especially now ) getting orders filled,
so I guess I need to be patient. :? Image

( I do have a Dorfman as backup, but, well.....you know ](*,) )

Is Lee Keppler out of town? I've written him and he usually has answered emails but haven't gotten responses lately. Does he mind cals in the evening?

I spoke to Lee last Friday. He has moved his home and has been getting settled. He has a room full of hats that he is ready to start bashing and shipping. He sounded like he would be getting to work this week. Hopefully, he will take care of the outstanding orders soon.

Cheers,

Ttried to call him this morning and his voicemail is full so I guess he is indeed busy. But for once I hope he hasn't gotten to mine yet before I can confirm the hat size with him!

Got hold of Lee today - what a nice guy to talk to! Boy, he's had a lot going on but is getting back at it. Hopefully I'll get my hat in the coming week.

Still a bit scared though because I've tried on another Indy hat before and the thing looked like a stovepipe on me. Is that the normal thing for a newbie to think with his first hat?

Depends. Sometimes. I thought it looked great the first time I put on my first Indy hat, ironically a Keppler.

You'll get used to a tall crown, just wear it constantly and pretty soon, you'll put it on and not notice it's there.

I've been going most everywhere in mine since I got it. Has withstood two pretty good rains with no taper.
