well, its not a rumor....it is true. There are black Indy boots being made by alden, and sold at the regular price...in black calf...

The catch is that they are only being made for the store on Madison Ave in NYC.

these aren't mine sadly.

Those are pretty darned sexy. They'd look awesome(er) with a bit of wear and tear.

They are nice..they would be even nicer if they had black soles and all-black stitching

would have been nice to see a solid black boot but this works too...If wasn't planning on buying my AB Delux next I would grab a pair of those for sure...Oh well maybe at a later time...

My only thought is that I'm not sure what type of outfit they'd actually look good with. With the white stitching and brown soles, it really takes away from any sort of "dress" look...so they wouldn't look good with any sort of suit. Brown ones work well because they match khakis, and as such, can get away with being a little more "dressed down". I guess these might look okay with jeans, but I dunno...seems like a lot to pay for something to wear with jeans.

The only thing I don't like is the brown cork soles. They look so out of place on a black boot...

I agree, otherwise they look good to me.

So are they called a black 405 or do they have another designation?

I have had a pair of black Alden Indy's for several years now -- at the time they had to be custom made and the price was one hundred dollars over the regular 405's! Truthfully....I think I was the first person to request black -- but, I could be wrong...it took quite a bit of negotiation to get them to do the project and took forever to receive the final product!
But, they are great! W>

I like these boots very much. The color seems to be a good option on this model.

Nice boots. I think they'd look good with a pair of jeans and a black Indy jacket.

All right ladies and gentleman, I will let you in on a secret. Alden of Carmel;
http://www.alden-of-carmel.com/index.cf ... ot_210.htm
has cordovan black indy boots. black stitching and soles. very nice, although expensive - if you can afford it cordovan is worth the price.

Interesting...I always thought cordovan was a brownish-red color, but these are black.
Then I looked it up and found out that cordovan is horse. So if these Alden 405 are horsehide, man they'll outlive me. Wouldn't mind a pair....

yup.....tom park at LSH has black indy's too......more pricey as well.
i think these would look nice with a grey suit.....perhaps with a pinstripe? grey slacks/black sport-coat and white shirt?
casually, wear them like black motorcycle boots with a nice racing style leather jacket and a t-shirt.
there's lots of stuff you can wear these with i'm sure.........how bout nekkid? they would be a good choice to go streaking through campus with no?

I definitely think the Carmel ones look better with the black stitching and soles. Sharp!

This is really a non-issue guys. The stitching and the leather portion of the soles can be easily darkened with a coat of black liquid shoe/boot polish. It only takes about 5 minutes to do this. I did it on a pair of western boots I bought last year that had some silly white decorative stitching all over them. A black permanent felt-tip marker might do just as well.

The one difference here is that I got khaki stiching, not white. But, this again was an experiment for me and for Alden! I really love the boots and have had many compliments regarding said! W>
