Hi everyone!
I want to introduce you my new KOTCS bullwhip. It has two bellies inside and 16 plt overlay. The point is 6 plaited. What is uncommon in nylon whips, it has redhide fall. I will test it tomorrow and I' ll tell you how it cracks.

The whip is coyote brown (like saddle tan in leather whips) and 7x6 turksheads are black.

I would test the redhide fall out, but go with a nylon one. Just to keep the bad weather use aspect in place. I have been making my falls with a complete piece of paracord inside a hollow piece. I find it adds a little extra weight. I also gave up on using the inner-strands for poppers.

I'd say it's okay here. The whip may be for sale, and he may be advertising it here, but this thread seems to be more about the whip itself. I would suggest that he post an ad in the cairo bizzare too though . AND... the whip looks awesome, how long is it?

Can I ask why 16plait?

It has two bellies - 6 and 10 plt and I think that 12 strands will not cover it good. 16 are perfect. I know that you make your whips with one belly and 12 plt top plait but IMO those with two bellies inside are heavier and handle better. I made three whips with one belly but when I made 16 plt one I knew that is it - weight, taper and handling are much better.
6 strand point before fall I can explain too - I just hate dropping from 6 to 4 (I can't do it well ) so I tried finish with 6 and it looks good, the hitch isn't too big.

Tony, I saw your new website and I have to admit that it is amazing! The matched pair leather and nylon are the best idea I' ve ever seen by nylon whips.
Could you explain what is stratum foundationing ? I hear this first time

Tony - how much weight your nylons? Do you put lead under turksheads? In this whip above I put circa 60 grams of lead and it is really well balanced. Did you ever try leather falls and bolster in nylons? Leather fall for me is better than paracord fall because of weight and accuracy. Bolsters I will try in my next whips - braided sleeves for wires and cables, which are highly recommended by PyramidBlaster

Tom if you look on the site the Young Indy has a redhide fall but as a general rule most folks buying a Nylon from me are doing so because they want to wet weather crack so they prefer nylon falls.....the secret with nylon falls and accuracy is not to make the fall over 18 inches I've found....

Bolsters I've done lots of experiments in the past and I'm very happy with the way I make my nylon whips and how they perform using the "Stratum Foundationing" method....

One thing that did turn out good you could try is to construct your core in an 8plait then instead of going over it in the normal 12 use a thick veg tanned kip bolster then straight over the top in a 16plait......I did a few this way and they were nice whips but not for commercial sale I didn't think....


I have a couple of word documents here if you'd like them Tom, it's a tutorial that I did for the A.P.W.A and shows how I construct a nylon from start to finish.....If I had time and was technical enough to know how I'd do it as a post here and make it sticky....
