an upturned lip on the brim.

something like this may have been metioned in the past, but I reckon I've found a great way to get an upturned lip on the sides and rear of a brim.
Simply get a small piece...(maybe about 20m)... of 10mm garden hose...(you know, the cheap, black stuff that gets used for spray watering systems)...run it under hot water so you can bend it into the curve of your brim, and then steam the brim and push the edge up against the hose...(or run your thumb along it).

Hey presto, upturned lip.

Whoa, that might be EXACTLY what I was looking for. A while back I posted a thread asking about any flanging tricks and got almost no replies...this might be the information that I needed.

Please post a picutre or video to illustrate.

I have often pondered how to make a "poor mans flange" for just that use. I do believe you're onto something there!

THis is what I mean..
Just simply steam the brim and push up against the hose...eazy-peezy..
