Hey all:

First time poster, long time lurker. Hello all. Got my AB all ordered, already have a Wested Leather. I think 2 of the 3 biggest components of the classic outfit are out of the way.

So I was on a flight from Chicago to Tucson and was reading the SkyMall magazine on the flight (I had already finished my Indiana Jones Omnibus Vol. 2 from Dark Horse). I came across a page with several movie replicas, mostly from Harry Potter. On the next page, there was a little Indy collection with two pieces featured, including a replica Indy machete and a replica bullwhip. Check out the link below:

$200 is pretty reasonable I think. I've seen the prices some of you all pay for some really gorgeous whips, and I don't think I'm ready to go all the way yet, as I just turned 22 and I'm struggling to pay bills as is. It comes with that nifty display piece (I would hang on a wall with the hat and leather as a homage). It says it is a functional prop replica, and I wouldn't be doing that much with it physically other than cracking it once and a while for fun at the local park or something. It would basically be just attached at the belt for show. Anyone know anything about this whip? It looks pretty close to the whip he's got in the films and seems to be functional enough for some light action.

I searched the forum for this same replica and I can't seem to find any information on COW about it. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome Maelstrom.

Just my two cents worth here. You say you have little plans to actually crack the whip. I can only say, wait until you do. It is really a joy to crack. People seem to be amazed with the most basic of cracks. Very easy to impress and I am sure a little action would add to your costuming. That being said. I would either save for the $400+ it will take to get a fine Kangaroo (there are many excellent makers on COW) or go for a less expensive option like a nylon or one of Gus Caicedo's whips. I sound like a broken record always recommending Gus but I have 4 of his whips and just ordered 2 more. Check him out at http://www.purewhips.com

Good luck with your choice and again welcome.

Hi Maelstrom, welcome to Club Obi Wan.

This is the Noble collection officially licensed Indiana Jones bullwhip. It has been mentioned here before several times in the past. They are supposed to ship this month, but as far as I know no one has received one yet so we haven’t gotten a solid review of one here. I was told that they are made by one of the whip suppliers of Western Stage Props Company, who make some of their American type bullwhips. Which if is the case, I am sure it will crack and hold up to some basic whip cracking, but there are some issued with the whip that would keep me from buying it as anything more then a licensed souvenir.

Appearance wise it’s details are off compared to the film used whips in all 4 movies, but to many I am sure it will be close enough. I think it is what it is, a prop replica that has some functional use, but just looking at the photos It doesn’t look like it has the making of a performance style high quality bullwhip, that would be more suitable to serious whip cracking. I am sure it will fill a nitch though and to many will be close enough, but you can do better if your looking for a real whip even for around that price..

I’ll be curious to hear more about them, or try one out. That Indy machete might have to go on my Christmas list though  .

I read the other thread about this whip and it just seems like this one will look great. I compared to pictures provided on the main site from the film's whips and it does look really good, as suggested in the other thread. As soon as we find out about its functionality I guess we'll get a better idea. I'm going to email Noble later and try to get a definitive date on when they will first ship. I'll let you all know!
