I know some of You older COW´s might have read this before, but
its time for me to ask again...
How many of You had distressed You Wested with a 9mm bullet-hole
in the left sleve (not nessaserely fired from a Luger) ??
...none... hmm. Thought many of You guys was keen for the movie-look
Best regards

ive considered it, but id rather shoot myself in the head than shoot through my wested(just kidding), since i know how upset i was when i knicked my jacket in the car door. but if your gonna shoot through it with a 9-mil, then be sure to use a luger or a walther p-38(i may be mistaken, but i believe that was what was used for the shot.

For the record, the bullet was fired from a Walther P-38. Odd though, the P-38 didn't go into service until mid-way in WWII. Or was it the other way around? Anywho...
I've thought about it, maybe if I have a spair jacket I'll try it, but not on my good one!

You know what I noticed, maybe Im a bonehead for just noticing, but it looks like Indy gets shot twice in ROTLA, once in the Raven bar, and once in the transport truck...?
I noticed this on the DVD's.....

PS Didn't I read a post before talking about this, or a 9mm? I though I remember reading the ludicrous comment that the 9mm doesnt have enough power behind it.

I may consider this when my Wested is too worn out to be anything but a Halloween costume. However, considering the fact my jacket is only about a month old I'm sure I've got a few decades before any possibilty of shooting a hole in my jacket. By that time I'm sure I'll have at least two more Westeds in my arsenal.

Yes, that is another inaccuracy in "Raiders". Indy is shot in arm with a P.38. Unfortunately the first production models of that gun available for testing by German troops were issued in the early months of 1940. The first issue of these guns to regular combat groups began with the invasion of Norway in April of 1940. So they were a few years ahead of themselves. It would have been more 'authentic' to have them use the Luger pistol, but hey I'm not complaining, these minor 'mistakes' only make discussions of the making of these movies more interesting.

Hey guys, Please don't shoot your leather jackets. Haven't they been through enough?

Jan, you ARE sick
Not that I don't like you nonetheless, but this is just...
Well, since I'm in the Michaelson U when it comes to distressing anyway, there's only one way to get a 9mm hole in my jacket, and that's if someone really would shot me, while I wear it. And I hope this never happens.
Regards,
Marc

I'm with Marc, please god it never happens to any of us.
And, as per the discrepancies with the equipment, I think it's just as well. Otherwise, there would be one post per piece of equipment and we would have nothing to talk about! (here at least, I know a lot of us have other stuff in common, but it doesn't neccesarily mean it's gear related)

Farn

After being in the near line of fire while in "Wrong place wrong time" Detroit about 10 years back... it's not a fun experience. No only can your jacket or fedora get distressed but your body might be distressed, too.

Aye, fisk, I've been at the recieving end myself (apparently I resemble a moose--if I wasn't so hellbent on getting out of there I might have been offended).
It certainly tests the cardiovascular fitness of anyone, that's for sure.

After reading through this I've decided you're definately out of your mind if you want to get shot..
I've been there.. and done that and sorry it's most DEFINATELY not worth it just to "authenticate" your jacket. A 9mm how no lack of power believe me.. and besides bloodstains might be hard to get out of your Wested.

Shal

"Kids dont try this at home..."
I feel I have to straighten thing up.... IF You wanna put a bullet through You left upper sleeve in Your Wested, please use a registed gun, do it on a shootingrange, so noone will accedently get hurt, use a bullet produced without childlabour, use smokeless power (because of the environment), be sure not to harm any living creature on Your way to and from the shootingrange, do not fire in bad vision, do not fire if the hit aint sure, do not inhale gasses from the shoot, dont fire if drunk....AND REMEMBER TO TAKE OFF THE JACKET BEFORE TAKING THE SHOT!
Well... I guess that covers about all.... no wait, shooting agains your sleeve will be at Your own risk, and I cant take any responsibility for any damage done in this atempt.
Best regards
