A US Wings Jacket... on a Person!

I couldn't help notice that there has been a call to see more photos of people wearing their US Wings jackets. Honestly, I have noticed that almost every picture of a Wings posted is missing it's wearer!
In hopes of getting more such pictures on the board, here's two (not so great) shots of me actually wearing one. Front and back. Color was adjusted do to serious shadow issues!

So, who's next?

How do the sleeves fit on a USW Large?

I wear a size 50 jacket, normally. My chest is actually 48.25 inches, but my stomach 49.75!
Neck size is 19. My arms are about 33 inches (from shoulder seam). I stand about 5' 9" but with a long torso and short legs.
The Jacket is a 2X. No modifications. I love the fit. I have never gotten this good a fit from an off-the-rack jacket before or since. The sleeves are a little long, but not to the point of being uncomfortable. I have short arms compared to the rest of my body, so it's always an issue... usually a major one.

now that just simply looks sharp on you chewie......i have seen so many us wings jackets that aren't sized correctly for the owner.....which is why i'm so hesitant to add one to my collection.....that looks like a tailor cut and made it for you.
look'n good

Here's my US Wings G-2 in antique lambskin. It was a purchase from their warehouse clearance a year or so ago when they sold off the import jackets and older stock that had built up over the years. This jacket is very well made and feels great. There is no label in my jacket that specifically says it was made overseas, but this jacket wasn't one of the "top of the line" jackets that was without a doubt made in the USA.
The only issue I had at the time was with their sizing.
I'm accounting this to the fact that these were clearance jackets and NOT their current US made jackets, or their VIP line, etc. I generally wear a size 40, but when I first ordered a medium, it was HUGE. I traded for a small which was also too big, and finally had them physically measure this jacket in the shop to determine it would fit me right. This jacket is an
extra small and could still stand to be a tad smaller on my size 40 frame. That said, I really do like this jacket and it served as my primary winter jacket last year.
Despite my experience, DO NOT take this as gospel as to how all US Wings jackets fit. If this were a VIP jacket or from current stock, I don't think I would've had this problem. Heck, it could be that the size label was mixed up on my jacket. I'm of the feeling that my jacket probably is an import, though I don't see any specific labels to show it.

Without starting a new thread, I've heard that USW sizing can be somewhat erratic? If you have ordered recently, what is your experience with it?

Thanks for the compliments, gang. I really do like this G-2.
TS, again, I think the sizing issue was with the import and clearance jackets. I believe their VIP and US made jackets don't have such inconsistent size issues. But when I finally got my G-2, I had them physically measure the G-2 over the phone and tell me the jacket's measurements. I compared their G-2 numbers to those I had taken off my Westeds and made my final decision based off that, and not what the tag read. If you are concerned with the sizing of the US Wings jacket you want, have them take measurements off of a jacket on hand. If those numbers work for you, have them send you that very jacket.

hey Blinkmister, that is a great idea, will they really do that. I would love to get a vip,but I'm one of those in between sizes, around a 43,so I've been hesitant.

jacksdad, if you ask politely they should measure a jacket for you.

and you know what..that jacket just screams ToD to me..why?..cause its done by the original makers..and it just really looks like the temple jacket.even the pockets look smaller then their current offerings....
yes its a little bigger here and there..but still very ToD style
GREAT jacket

Thanks for the info. guys! Really nice jacket, Weston. It has a supple, broken-in appearance, and noticed the zip is on the right side, also.

Weston, thanks for that. An excellent example of how goatskin can look once it's well broken in, which I have almost never seen. I have to agree with Holt about how ToD it looks.
Bink, I like the G-2, but if that's an extra small, it was made in the land of the giants! Lots of room for a sweater, though!

Yeah, I think that's because it was one of the old stock jackets they cleared out. My understanding is that the G-2 was supposed to be a little roomier by design, but I've taken a crack at trying to shrink this one down a little on occasion. I still like the jacket, though.

Bink I would be scared with a jacket like that open! A wind might catch it and woosh: gone with the wind.

It's cheaper than driving.
Seriously, it's not that huge when worn open, though it is a tad blousey in back.

Oh dear Lord! I love that jacket Bink! Casual, vintage look, Indyesque, light weight... and great hat choice, too. I'm gonna have to hunt me down one a 'dem.

I forgot all about those jackets, bink. That looks amazing! They need to start offering some of their older stuff again, lol. I'd love a nice cotton indy jacket in that color with a leather collar, or a nice kangaroo hide leather jacket. And that's all I can remember of what they used to offer but now don't
Great jacket though!

bink, that is niiiiiiice! man, i wish they still made those. it would have been perfect for summertime (what's left of it).
maybe i'll bait you at the next summit with a wallet full of monopoly money....just for me to have enough time to snag that from you

Thanks, guys! I've worn it to work the past two days. It is a nice combination between modern and vintage. I like this jacket a lot, though they were never terribly popular with the Indy fans when they offered them, which is why US Wings discontinued them. Apparently Indy fans only like brown jackets.
I don't think I'm going to part with this one, though, so back of!
Chewie, did you mean you wanted the jacket or the hat? Or both? I can tell you where do get the cap, at least.

I meant the jacket... though I admit the cap interests me. I just don't know if that style would look right on me or not. Oh! for the days of brick-and-mortar hat shops!

Weston, how old is that jacket you posted?
I just ordered a USW, and since they do not do any modifications, I was wondering if you guys knew anyone in the Gear site, or otherwise, who does customizing work? Maybe sleeve alterations and a snap at the bottom of the stom flap is about all I will need.

Try to find a local tailor and ask them if they do that sort of work. I know mine will modify sleeve length. I never asked about adding a snap because the jackets I have without one are too narrow in the flap for it to work.

Wested offers a cotton (denim) version I noticed.
I bet if you asked nicely, Peter would make one out of light cotton with a leather collar...

Scott, it is nearly 5 years old.
