Elsa’s Zippo

Post by FerFAL »

Here’s my first 100% accurate item, arrived today.
I was needing some luck so …:)

It’s not like the one’s made by RR but I still like it a lot.

The BSA Scout knife isn’t like Indy’s pocket knife, but since he was a Boy Scout he probably had one of these too.:)

My next purchases will be the bag, and maybe a RR lighter.

Is this lighter the "official" Zippo version? I was thinking about getting one if I can find a price that's right. How's the quality?

Looking good. I'd like to see some comparison shots from the movie before agreeing with the statement "100% accurate" though. ;)

I second that thought. I am on the fence about ording an entire lighter from RR or just getting the badge as I have a 10 year old Zippo in brushed chrome that would probably accept the badges pretty easily.

Just found my "From Star Wars to Indiana Jones The Best of the Lucasfilm Archives" book and there is a picture on page 185 of Elsa's lighter. It definitely has a "resin style" badge that completly covers the face of the lighter.

Even though maybe not 100% screen accurate (as the screen version was a "rougher cut" paint version) I still like that one as it looks really slick. I've heard they scuff easily though. Maybe one could coat it to protect the screen print?

Yes. The paintjob on the screen-used lighter will not hold up for close scrutiny... A shoddy clover on lumpy white base, IIRC.

I agree. The photo I've seen shows a TERRIBLE paint job indeed!

It’s the “Indy Clover” lighter released by Zippo. Bought mine on Ebay but Amazon has the same one too.

I don’t have screen shots but I looked closely when I played the DVD, looks the same, the clover is identical. The only difference I see is that the white paint reaches closer to the edges. The drawing is painted like in my Zippo, not badges with any noticeable thickness. At least that’s what I saw when Indy’s dad burns the ropes.

I’ve been carrying it in my pocket for a couple days now.
Looks good quality, doesn’t seem as if it’s going to chip off any time soon. I wouldn’t mind a scratch or chip here and there. Ads character.

I really like RR's work.
I would have ordered from him instead of buying the one on ebay, but I had already bought mine before emailing him.
I sent him an email some time ago and he ships to my country, so I'll get one from him next time.
