Ok...I'm confused and need help!

With some of the fairly recent threads on Wested sizing, I have no idea which size to order. ](*,)

I plan on ordering the Special Offer Raiders Washed Goat (NOT a ROLA with '80s cut and more SA features, if I understand it right)

http://www.ekmpowershop4.com/ekmps/shop ... -115-p.asp

I typically wear a 46R suit jacket, but have worn anywhere from a 44 to a 48 depending on the cut and manufacture.

I planned to order a 46...but really wonder after all this. Should I order a size up and get the 48? I would like to avoid having to exchange it and ship it back, with all the associated costs.

Any reason why I shouldn't order the 46? :-k

Order the 46. I think the Wested sizes are true.

It's a jacket and you need a little room underneath so you want and extra inch instead of an inch less, in my opinion.

Also, will you grow a little into the jacket? A tiny bit big is better than a perfect fit sometimes as the jacket may shrink a tiny bit, etc.

Take a jacket that you already own, and that fits you the way you like,
and take a few measurements from it as follows:

Zip it up, and lay it flat on your bed, or on the floor, with the zipper facing
up.

Measure it from armpit seam to armpit seam across the chest. Write that
number down.

Then, measure either sleeve from where the sleeve meets the shoulder
seam, all the way down the OUTSIDE of the sleeve to the end of the cuff.
Write that number down.

Turn the jacket over, keeping it flat, and measure it from the base of the
collar (where the collar meets the back panel) straight down the back to
the bottom hem. Write this number down.

Now, take the chest measurement from above and double it. This is the
total chest measurement for your jacket.

Wested incorporates 4 inches of "movement room" over the tagged size
of the jacket in their REGULAR fit jackets, and they incorporate about 2
inches of "movement room" over the tagged size in their "80's" cut.

For example, a size 42 REGULAR Wested will have a total chest
measurement of 46 inches. A size 42 80's cut will have a total chest measurement
of about 44 inches.

A size 44 Regular will have a total chest measurement of 48 inches, and
the size 44 80's cut will be about 46 inches and so on.

Compare this with the jacket you own, and like the fit of, and see which
size Wested will be the closest to the fit you like best.

Remember that if you order a "custom" Wested, you can get any sleeve
length YOU need, and any back length YOU want.

If you go with an OTR Wested, compare the jacket you measured to the
Wested website to see which jacket is closest to what you are looking for.

You can narrow your search down once you know that the Regular Wested
has 4 inches of movement room over tagged size, and the 80's cut has
about 2 inches of movement room over tagged size.

You can then deside if you want a jacket that is slightly bigger if you like
that kind of fit for layering clothes under it for cold weather, or one that is
more fitted if you are only going to wear it in warmer type weather with
just a tee shirt or polo shirt under it.

Good luck!!

Have someone measure around the widest part of the chest. How do you like the jacket to fit, some slack or tightly? Report this to them also. They can take it from there.

I also think a full length pic (not life size, obviously!) of you, in a trim t-shirt and jeans - front on, to give them a idea of your build helps.

After all some of us are V shaped and some have gone pear shaped!

That's about the best description I've read in a LONG time, KT!

Regards from one of the pears!

And some of us are shaped like a watermelon that's gone pear shaped!

I'm a heavy guy, especially in the gut. I wear a 50 jacket. I have a size 50 Wested that fits very nicely, except for the neck. Wested doesn't seem to handle large neck sizes very well. Then again, the only generous neck sizes I've seen off-the-rack have been US Wings.

The only reason I would suggest getting a size up is of you plan to wear a sweater underneath. Even the standard cut does not leave much room for layering.

Hi guys!
As I wrote in another topics I want to order a custom wested jacket. But I' ve got a problem with sizing it. I love the way this jacket fits (especially the back banel, it has no waves) viewtopic.php?t=28130&highlight=horsehide
Should I give Peter some extra sizes of my body to help him better do his work? I mean the back panel top and bottom width. I really don't like the waves on it. For me the jacket from the link is most beautiful indy jacket I've ever seen.
