Mythbusters
Does anyone know if the hat that Adam has worn in the last few episodes is the fabled AB?

Adam used to work for Lucasfilm so it's no wonder he's into Indy, Star Wars and the like. He's a member over at the RPF and posts from time to time. I can shoot him a pm and ask if you really wanna know. I did see he purchased a pretty nice whip recently in the RPF junkyard as well so who knows if an Indy costume is in the works?

Apparently, Adam went as "Heck Boy" to Comic Con this year. Go to Discovery.com/Mythbusters and he has a link there. He does seem like a cool, stand-up guy.

Adam rocks, and I love when he wears his hats. As far as I can tell, the only hats he's worn on Mythbusters (other than "costumes") have been Akubras. Although, he did have one last season that might have been a Stetson.
I have a feeling, knowing this community, that if an AB ever shows up on Adam's head, it will be recognized with very little doubt.

I was able to meet Adam and Jaime at their autograph signing, but missed out on the panel which was right after (reeeeeeeaaaaally long line; a Comic Con staple). However, they were really nice, and Adam, seeing me in gear, mentioned that he would be donning his gear for a future episode (with an Indy related myth). Perhaps then we'll see his Adventurebilt. Looking forward to it.

Well a couple months ago someone who worked on the show or something, not sure. Anyway it sounded like they knew for sure that Adam had ordered an AB, and they knew it from the Mythbusters side and not the AB side. I just wasn't sure if the current season was filmed late enough to be the AB. It sure doesn't look like a different hat, but then again I didn't really pay that close of attention to the hat until this year.

Oop ! I vote Akubra, in one of the earlier seasons he was definatley wearing a Bushman.Michaelson wrote:True, but the question was, what hat does Adam wear? The last report we had was he had ordered an AB, so it was 'information specific' to this thread, Dutch.Dutch_jones wrote:Not every indy-like hat has to be an AB.

I found the original thread. The conversation went like so:

ob1al:
Michaelson:Keep watching 'mythbusters'.
ob1al:So, he finally decided to move away from an Akubra and get an AB, eh? VERY good!
Regards! Michaelson
Indeed - I'm waiting for it to show up on TV so I can bore my good lady with cries of 'Look! There's my hat!'.

I quickly scanned the photo credit on that one and thought it sad Ra's Al Ghul. hahaDutch_jones wrote:Not every indy-like hat has to be an AB.
BTW for those not wanting to search:
they should really do a Indy special like they did with James Bond, OK so they already did one or two myths about Indy. But still
"Heck Boy" I almost spewed water laughing at that one. haha

Me too! That really is a great costume he's got there. Wow! I wish I could have gone. What a surprise that would have been. Take a picture with that guy and then find out it was Adam!
Well if they do an Indy episode I'll be tuned in! It would be interesting to see his gear. I do get excited whenever they do a shot in the shop where you can see his whip, idol, and grail in the background. That's always SO cool.

Adam Savage's hat is actually a replica of Clint Eastwood's from Fistful of Dollars made by the Knudsen Hat Company. He does also own Akubra's and and a Adventurebilt. How do I know? I emailed him yesterday and asked. He did mention that he was going to wear his AB in an upcoming Indiana Jones myth.

Didn't they do some Indy myths already?
From what I remember
-They used a life raft as a parachute. BUSTED (You might only receive broken bones if it doesn't flip over)
-They tried to use window awnings to break a fall PLAUSIBLE (But you'd still get hurt)

BTW that hat is DEFINATLEY rabbit felt, and so is Adam's current hat which has a short crown and seems very tapered in the back. Also looks like it has a bound brim. can't find a good picture of it.

The newer episodes ("Tenderizing Meat with Explosives", and the most recent "Jaws Special (2)") show Adam sporting a new(?) fedora, this one with a short leather hat band, and if I recall correctly, the hat was bashed differently.
PS: Who says black and brown don't go together?!? Adam wears a black shirt and or jacket with his brown hat allll the time

Well I knew it wasn't an Indy AB, but I thought it might have been a custom AB. Didn't think Marc and Steve were doing that anymore, but maybe for Adam Savage. Well it's nice to here that it might show up in the future. I tried to contact him myself, but couldn't figure out a way on the website. And I think he and Jamie have been run out of the message boards by overly zealous fans.Band Director Jones wrote:Adam Savage's hat is actually a replica of Clint Eastwood's from Fistful of Dollars made by the Knudsen Hat Company. Check this out:jacksdad wrote:Adam seems like he would enjoy answering the question.I remeber reading a post that he was a big Indy fan and I think he would tell us if it is an AB.It wouldn't surprize me if he's not even a memember but under a differnt name.He seems to be alot like the rest of us.

I don't think they do much answering on their message board. Also, I invited him to join COW a few years ago. I think he's been here before, but I don't think he has joined...or has he...?
By the way, I can confirm that the Indy myth will not feature Buster, a Frigidaire, 1950's tract-housing, miles of open desert, and one hydrogen bomb. His exact words were "Oh 'heck' no" (but he didn't say "heck").

He joined, but it looks like his account was deleted.
I emailed him about the argument people were having over the life raft myth, and he joined so he could read the thread.

Someone joined using his name. When it came time to clear out the non posting membrs (someting we do once a year) I emailed him to see what his status was.
I never heard back. He never posted. He never visited as far as I could tell (and yes that stat is available to me...)
So, star or not, his account got deleted during the purge.
It's too bad. It would have been fun to have him on board.
